I must have a gifted child because she always tells me that. She also tells me that, "You like the boys better!"

Motherhood, I never dreamed it could be sooooo good.

My 6 year-old said it to me today b/c I told him no TV (which meant no TV, wii, playstation, etc.). But, he did get to play at the baseball field all afternoon with his best friend, and he's going to Florida next week. Man, now that I think about it, I wish that I "didn't get to do anything" when I was little!

I think it must be a 'pre-program' for teens! That is ALL I hear from our 14 yr old son.

i use to hear that from my brother and sister when i lived at home.

Hmm, have NEVER heard that or anything remotely similar from my 13yo son. I've always told him that if he works hard he'll be allowed to play hard. So far, I've been able to live up to my end and he's doing his. All is well here.

Yeah I have never heard that one from my kids either. If I say no to something they understand why I guess? I did hear I am bored yesterday though. One of my kids thinks if we are not out dining and at the mall the day is a total loss.

I have never heard it from my kids either but they are frequently told no and have been for year so they must just be used to it. I think they also know that if they talked to me like that they would be in a lot of trouble. They have more respect for us I guess.

Once from my oldest, so over the next few weeks (or was it a month.. ) I made sure he "didnt get to do anything." He never said that again.

We have some friends that have kids the exact same ages as our kids. I can't stand to be around their kids because they talk back, whine and are simply annoying. Their parent's attitude is basically 'well, all teens talk like this, it's a phase". Yes, all teens talk like that if you LET them and it won't be a 'phase' if you don't do something about it.

I used to say "We never get to do anything I want to!"
Never actually got to do what I wanted after I said it.
My mom might just say "Fine, -continues in to what I got to do that day-"
Then I'd feel guilty and I wouldn't say it again.
I learned that I was actually wrong. That I got to do alot of things.
I haven't said it for about 3 years.
