The day finally arrived. Today with about 5 other people that I know of, I was laid off. I guess I had hoped that things were getting better on the job front. So now I am looking for another job. If anyone out there knows of anything in the Dallas area that is contract or perm, please let me know. Even though this is sad for me, I realize how lucky I am. I still have everything...those who were in the path of Katrina have nothing.....

I am so sorry sweetie. You are in my thoughts and prayers. Will you be able to at least collect some kind of unemployment? I hope so. This is a sign i am sure, the perfect job is out there for you (me too i hope, was fired not too long ago for being out after a car accident & now i am battling back and forth for unemployment). But you, should have no problem to get at least unemployment while you are looking.

If there is anything i can do, please tell me. Or if you just want to vent, i am here for that too!!

I have been without a job for nearly 2 months! I am a teacher and can't get a permanent job anywhere. It is very frustrating and I admit I have shed some tears, but in light of the disaster in the Gulf I realize I am lucky.

This explains why you haven't been on Yahoo IM all day. I've been wondering where you were. I am so, so sorry to hear this news.

Check out TheLadders.com. They have really good jobs on there, and different Ladders for different areas. Check out both Tech and Marketing, because a lot of the marketing jobs on there are really product manager jobs that require project mgmt experience and solid tech skills like you have. There are many things posted in our area of the country.

Something even better is coming your way soon! I just know it!

You can think of it this way...
6-12 months of free money! Unemployment.... I was on it for 2 months (though I was freaking out that I was going to be unemployed forever!) But take it as an opportunity. My friend just got unemployed and he's:
1. spent a week in Fl. with his parents
2. Just left for Europe for 3 weeks!!

You can't do these things when you have a job!
Plus I think top pay for unemployment is $480 a week.
Pretty good!

Oh, honey, that really sucks! I'm in the Dallas area (McKinney), but I work at a law firm, which really wouldn't help you much.

Hi Jonette, I'm so sorry to hear your news. I just wanted to let you know that if it comes down to it and you're looking for something temporary my mom is always hiring people in the dallas area for seasonal help during Christmas time for Mattel Inc.
