Does anyone else read the tabloid magazines? I read them all (well not the really "out there" ones). I look forward to Friday when I go to the supermarket and they are there. I am not saying I believe it but it is great entertainment. Am I alone????

I sed to read them when my grandma had them... now if I am really down I buy one and laugh and try to do those huge crossword puzzles in them. They are just too funny. Although having seen paparrazzi live and in action 2 times... I don't want to support that behavior... so only if I am really really down. :)

But I won't buy them! I really can't see actually supporting them.

I read them in the supermarket or Target when the check-out lines are long. LOL! If I'm shopping alone, I pick the longest line so I can read more.

I'll quickly page through one of them while I'm waiting to check out at the grocery store, but to actually purchase one--no way!

I have to confess: I was a "Smut Addict" for many, many years!!! Way over 15 years to be exact!! "Smut" is what I called the Star and Enquirer. I faithfully bought them every week, made my trip to the grocery store on Friday afternoon just to buy them. I would then pass them over to my Dad to read.

To be honest, my favorite sections were: What People are Wearing, and the star gossip.

After the anthrax episode at the Enquirer's headquaters last October, I rethought the situation and realized that:

1) These magazines were very, very expensive
2) The Enquirer and Star appear to be published by the same company and had much of the same content
3) Most of their "stories" were not stories at all

I gave up my "smut" cold turkey. I will admit that I broke down last month and bought the issue in which Lisa Marie's wedding photos were published as I wanted to see her dress.

I do, however, still buy Woman's World each week - I love the mystery story and then I pass this on to my Mom (who loves the recipes), who is turn passes it on to my SIL (who loves the craft ideas).

The first thing I look at is "What People Are Wearing."

I love that feature!

I don't read the tabloids, but admit to reading "Soap Opera Digest" while waiting in line and will buy one if the cover appeals to me. It's amazing how many people BELIEVE what they read in National Inquirer though. I am interested in knowing if you all read them for the fun or really believe the stories. If you don't believe them, why read them at all? I love the covers where celebrities look just god awful because I know how much I Hate having my photo taken. It's pretty funny too !

I alway buy the smut magazines when I am on vacation. I really feel that I am doing nothing and relaxing when reading the tabloids.

I would never in a million years believe those stories placed by those tabloids... plus I only buy them less often than once a year... some of them though really crack me up!

I do read the headlines while in the grocery check out lane and yes, I used to have a subscription to Soap Opera Digest, but dropped it because 1) it got too expensive and 2) I found a couple spoiler sites for my soap, so the magazaine was old news anyway by the time I received it! So, I guess I still read some smut, but just in a different venue!:D

As far as believing all the stories...no way, but I do like the fashion and short gossip sections!

My mother has subscriptions to the Star and the Enquirer - I give her one of them for Xmas. She LOVES getting them. She has told me repeatedly that it's her favorite present. She's really into crossword puzzles, so she especially likes that part. I usually thumb through them when she's done - I like to read the horoscopes.

I will buy the 'Weekly World News' or the 'Globe' on occassion. Usually when my dd begs me, lol. We hem and haw thru them. The BEST ones are at the end of the year when they do the "predictions" of the new year...hoo-ha now that is some hilarious reading.

OK, I can't bring one home or DH would disown me after a very long lecture about how marketers continually find new ways to separate me from my money. But I have to know - What is the story on Oprah & Dr. Phil????????????

My Grandma used to save all her old ones and give them to me to read. I loved it! I always read them on the checkout line but never ever buy them.
My favorite section is the "what are the stars wearing" pictures.I dont read any of the "I gave birth to an alien" type stories.

I read them occasionally, but would never buy them. My mom gets them from a girl at work, my mom reads them, then passes them on to me to read! :teeth:
