I've always been a ride chicken. Test track makes my head feel like its going to explode and Big thunder is the MAX of scariness I can handle. (I am not sure if I even like either one of those two). In any case, I somehow, after weeks of looking, scored FP for 7DMT at 10 am! I'm not a big fan of any type of motion, drops, speed, etc. Tell me if I can handle this lol. I did live to tell the tale of Big Thunder and went on the Matterhorn Bobsleds in DL several times. Thanks in advance!

I too am now a "Ride Chicken"!
Terrified of EE and ToT, but really love BTMRR and thoroughly enjoyed 7DMT, it's a great ride!
Go for it and enjoy!

I don't ride Big Thunder or any other "big" roller coaster at disney but I always ride 7 dwarves because it's such a smooth ride. I think you would enjoy it!

I'm not a ride chicken, but I can tell you that 7MDT is something you can do. It is fast, but very, very smooth. The smoothness is more important for comfort than the exact track (there are no gigantic drop offs and no upside downs either) IMO.
I've been on roller coasters all over the world, and the older, rickety ones are the scariest, because you can actually hurt yourself on those.

My 4 year old did the 7MDT, and the part she was most scared about was seeing the witch from the movie. :)
It was her first roller coaster.
I would not have taken her on some others I've been on, that are considered "for kids" (other parks), because some of those are so old and downright scary, from an "orthopedic perspective", if you know what I mean. ;)

I think you would be fine comparatively - it is very short, so you will not have to deal with much anyway. It is very smooth as mentioned, which makes me like it better than BTMRR, just wish it was longer. It does go fast and some small hills, but no huge drops. There is a cute break inside with scenes of the dwarves in the Mine.

I hate most roller coasters, I went on 7DMT with my 4 year old. It's fast but fun, its also over really fast....

If you can handle Big Thunder, you can definitely handle 7DMT in my opinion. It only has one mildly big drop in my opinion and the cars do sway a little bit.

Ditto the comparison to BTMRR. We rode Mine Train twice last week and it was totally doable. My kids loved it.

I am a huge ride chicken and my kids make fun of me (nicely!). Last trip- I did TT 4 times in a row and 7DMT two times- loved them both. I don't do drops- even though my kids keep on trying to get me to say yes for Splash for our upcoming trip. Enjoy!

I am a huge ride chicken, but loved 7DMT. I thought it was less intense than BTMRR. Much smoother and no drop feeling for me. It was a fun combination of a dark ride and a mellow coaster.

Aww, is that your son? It's so sweet how he's watching you.
Yes, my baby boy..he was trying to hide his face...LOL!! This was just pure terror for both of us in this moment for some reason. We're ashamed of ourselves because it's really not that bad!:rotfl:

Don't worry, you CAN do it if I can! It's the only ride of this type I dare to ride. I watched a full length video to help me decide I could do it.

this is going to sound backwards but if you sit in the front, any type of drop is cut in half as it's very slow until the coaster gets to about seat 6. in the back, you'll be full speed in every possibly scary moment. Just ask for rows 3 or 4 and it'll be a much different experience than rows 6-10.

either way, it's really smooth. I wouldn't even call it a moderate coaster, it even swings left to right making tight turns smooth as well.

Ride chicken here! I refuse to ride space mountain and I rode splash once this trip and hated every minute of it lol but I absolutely loved 7DMT!!

My ride chicken DH found it to be doable and he won't ride hardly anything. The first time we rode it was with my in-laws. It was their first ride on their first day visiting a Disney park. It was MIL's first coaster ever. We get off the ride and DH says "well, that was pretty mild." MIL exclaims, "I know, I was terrified." We look at her and she realizes she misheard him and says, "oh, I thought you said wild not mild." So to each their own perception, haha :)

Don't I know that. My first time on EE I was in the front row...the ride was a breeze. My husnand, due to riders swap, rode in the back row and came off with his legs shaking. He dared me to ride in the back and I was hooked. I wait for the back while he closes his eyes and silently wished the CM would direct us to the front.

That ride was really well designed. it is a little nerve racking to know your in the front but going backwards and it's one of the few gravity launch coasters I know where you can go from 0 to almost full speed when you hit the big drop. it's actually the same as 7dmt where the back actually starts the hill faster than the first car but the first car gets a pretty good speed when they hit it :) most gravity coasters are faster in the back. I know it's all connected it has to do with what speed you are at when it's your turn to hit the drop and in some cases your actually pulled up the hill faster so that apex is even more impactng.. :) fun ride.

7dmt it's night and day difference where 1 feels like a kiddy ride and the back could make someone that isn't a coaster fan never want to ride if that's their first experience. it's why 7dmt actually has a queue for the back of the ride and not the first car.
