First, let us know what model it is and what experience you have.

Yeah, we've got to know who's side you're on! :lmao: Sorry.

I don't think photography can be learned in a couple of tips from a website. This is a good place to start, but nothing will help like practice.

1) Learn how to use your camera. Read the manual. Try the different settings.

2) When something doesn't work the way you think it should, post the picture here and ask for advice.

3) Learn about the 3 things that affect exposure - shutter speed, and aperture, and ISO. Learn how to read your camera's histogram.

4) Read some guidelines on composition. Look for information on "Filling the frame" and "The rule of thirds".

5) Practice. Don't just take pictures, try stuff. Try taking pictures standing close to your subject. Try standing further away. Try taking pictures from down low looking up. Try taking pictures from up high looking down. Experiment. Once you've taken your pictures, study them and see what you like and don't like about them.

6) Steal. Look at the pictures posted here. Find ones that you like. Think about what you like about them and how you can do the same sort of thing. Ask the person that took the picture if you have any questions. You'll find everyone here very helpful.

Two excellent threads to "steal" from:

Those two threads were my inspiration on our last WDW visit, in July 06. I took over 2K pix in six days in the parks, although the majority were decidedly *not* keepers. But, hey, with digital, "film" is free...so shoot anything that looks remotely interesting, and weed out the "culls" when you get home.

I agree, the original question is a bit open-ended.

Is there a specific thing that you're having trouble with?

Two trips ago, when I went with my humble point-n-shoot, I took relatively few "usual" shots - ie, plain photos of the castle, Spaceship Earth, etc. The reasoning was that I wouldn't get enough quality to make it worthwhile. If I wanted really nice basic shots, there are plenty already out there. I tried to get the shots that were more unique to our trip - the people you're with, any unusual thing you'll do, etc.
