I'm looking to get addicted to another TV show....

I'm 21 years old. I love shows like the OC, One Tree HIll, and the like in Drama series. I like comedy as well...

I'm looking into maybe getting another TV series on DVD first season only to start with...

What would you guys recommend? I haven't really watched many shows. I've never seen the 'obvious' shows like ER, Greys, nothing like that. But maybe it's something I would be interested in.

Im just looking for some recommendations of stuff you guys like... if you could also give a brief description of the plot, that would be great, too!

Thanks everyone:)

LOST & Grey's Anatomy, my fav's!!! Both have previous seasons on DVD so easy to catch up! :thumbsup2

I don't watch the normal TV, so I wouldn't be of any assistance to you. I watch a lot of the Travel Channel, History Channel, Discovery Channel and HGTV. Sorry. I know, "If you had nothing to contribute, why did you post?" More of a bump I guess.

My sister has season 1 and 2 of Lost... she swears by it... completly addicted:) I could borrow her discs.

I know so many people who LOVE Greys... what does that all have to do with?

Forgot about the descriptions: LOST is about a plane crash, the survivors are stranded on an island that has "others" living on it. The show goes back and forth from their new life on the island and their old life before their trip. I only recently got into Grey's Anataomy this season. It is, as I'm sure you alredy know, based around hospital staff...someone could tell you more. I like Grey's because it is both a drama and funny!

haha, thanks for the bump! I've heard the show that oprah was talking about was pretty good... what was it, again.... uh... planet earth or something?!?.... Ever heard of that?

Lost and Gray's along with the original CSI are my "can't miss" shows!

Watching shows like that is fun, because you learn something. I was watching something the other day on...uhmmmmm, Discovery Channel, I think, about one of America's newest aircrast carriers...very cool. It's shows like that I like.

What about Gilmore Girls? I haven't seen much to give a description, but that may fit what you're looking for.

Hmm. Let's see if I can help. I'm 20 years old and like the same shows you do!

Veronica Mars was a really good show while it was on! I'm sad it was canceled. And I'm terrible with summaries, so here is one from tv.com. And just so you know, you find out all this stuff within the first episode so it's not really spoiling anything.

In the wealthy, seaside community of Neptune, California, the rich and powerful make the rules. Unfortunately for them, there's Veronica Mars, a smart, fearless 17-year-old apprentice private investigator dedicated to solving the town's toughest mysteries. Veronica used to be one of the popular girls, but it all came crumbling down around her after her best friend, Lilly, was murdered, and her then-sheriff father, Keith, was removed from office for naming Lilly's rich father as the lead suspect. During the day, Veronica must negotiate high school like any average teenage girl. But at night, she helps with her father's struggling, new private investigator business--and what she finds may tear the town of Neptune apart at the seams.

I've also heard Gossip Girl was really good, but I haven't seen any episodes.

ETA: I agree with the above poster about Gilmore Girls! It was a really amazing show. The two main characters were so quirky and sassy.

If you liked OC (as did my family) maybe you would also enjoy Gossip Girl which started recently.

Gilmore Girls! I forgot to mention I own those. I bought the whole series for myself for Christmas. I've seen off and on episodes of that throughout the airing of the show and I knew I would love the whole series so I splurged:) ***I used giftcards that I got for Christmas, so it was basicallya free series when you figure in day after christmas sales:)***

you might want to check out
party of five
dawson creek
they are no longer on, but I think they are checking out

These are the Shows I own, to maybe giveyou guys some more ideas:

- One Tree HIll
- THe OC
- Friends
- Dawsons Creek- Just one season though... I couldn't really get hooked on it.
- Everwood
-House
- Gilmore Girls

I think that's it... yeah I'm pretty sure that's it:)

Beverly Hills 90210 - A little older than The OC but very similar. I still watch it everyday on Soapnet!

October Road - I think that is one that you would like based on your list above. I watched all of the previous season online, ABC.com maybe, I don't know if you could still get last season online though.

Did you ever get into 7th Heaven?

Prison Break
Lost
Deadwood - It's odd but I LOVED this show ... LOVED it. I am holding out because I have no watched the season finale yet and I refuse to!!!

I like most of the ones you listed so the ones above are others that I like.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer is hands down my favorite show of all time! Closely followed by Angel.

How I Met Your Mother is cute too and we have both seasons of it on dvd!

OCTOBER ROAD!!!!! duhhhhhh.... i havent seen any episodes of that yet, but I've been meaning to get WAY invoved with that show... 1. it has the guy from the begining seasons of O.T.H that played Jake.... 2. It's got the hot firefighter guy from 7th heaven, so at least the show would keep my attention:lmao:

And yes, I did get into 7th Heaven. I loved that show... but they replayed it so much that I eventually got sick of it and the later seasons got really drawn out, IMO

90210 is another good option:) I used to watch that on soapnet but i dont' have the time to anymore since my schedule has changed.

I was at target this afternoon, and Season 1 of Greys was only 19.99 so I picked that up and will hopefully be poppin' it in the DVD player within minutes:).... Gotta catch up on my DIS first!

THanks for all the suggestions, everyone!

Well I'm 24 and I love Grey's, Lost, Desperate Housewives (so funny), and maybe since you like Deadwood, another HBO series that I though was one of the best shows I have EVER seen was Rome. It was only two seasons, but you will get addicted, and it has a proper ending, it doesn't leave you hanging...just wanting more :)
