I need some cooking help ASAP (meatloaf question)

I normally put about 1/4 cup of ketchup in my meatloaf. Do you think it would be any good if I added a thin layer of BBQ sauce to the top before I bake it?

Cube some cheese and throw that in there ~ you will never make it without it again!! ;)
 
YES! Been there, done that--LOVED it! A word of caution--You do not need that much. "Thin layer" indeed :thumbsup2 Tell us what you think.
 

I wouldn't add it right away, but I usually add some type of glaze (often a combination of ketchup, brown sugar and other seasonings) for the last 15 minutes or so of cooking meatloaf. If you add the Bar-BQ sauce when you first put your meatloaf in the oven, the sugar in the sauce will likely burn before the meatloaf is fully cooked. :)

But wait! Where is that other thread? The one with all the really seductive recipies? For whatever they are worth, please bring it back.
 
I ahve a recipe called Honey BBQ meatloaf that is really good. IT has some honey bar b que sauce in the the meat and just plain ketchup on top. Its great. I'll go find the recipe if you want it.
 
Thanks for the help everyone. I spread a thin layer of BBQ sauce on top during the last 20 minutes of cooking and it ROCKED!! My husband devoured it and asked if we could have it again next week! LOL!
 
I'll have to try that. I normally use tomato soup instead of ketchup because I don't like ketchup, but BBQ sauce sounds great!
 
Marseeya, I'm not really a ketchup person either, but I don't use much. For example, I had almost 2 lbs. of meat and only used 1/4 cup of ketchup. It just does something for the meatloaf. :)

ETA: DUH, sorry about that. You were talking about on TOP of the meatloaf, not IN it. Sorry :)
