DH and I are going to be in California from Sept 11-17. We have family and friends out there so 1 of those days will be with them. Otherwise we are planning 2 days at Universal and 2 days at Disney. Is this a good plan? We have only ever been to Disney World so we do not know how Disneyland works. We were also planning on staying here http://www.qualityinn.com/hotel-orange-california-CAC24?sid=6WTRM.iPBPSgDpai.10&month=9&day=11 is this a good hotel? Do you have any other suggestions? We will be driving so we will have our car. I hate being a newbie since I knew the World so well!

i would suggest that you add one more day at disneyland in order to experience most of what DLR has to offer

i would suggest subtracting a day from Universal. The entire park can be done in 1 day and in my opinion that is all you need. Especially considering that you are staying in Anaheim, I would drop a day at universal and add a Disneyland day just to avoid the approximately 50 mile drive to Universal for a second day.

Make sure to ride the Simpsons ride when you go to universal though. It is awesome!!!

I second that idea. One day for Universal is enough and three days at DL will let you see everything at a good pace.

I'd suggest one day at US and 3 at DLR. There is way more to do at Disney than Universal. Also, I would suggest looking for a different place to stay. I stayed at the Quality Inn many years ago, andit was not a good experience! My first choice for off-site wouldbe
Hojos, but if you can't get in there, try Anaheim Plaza Hotel.
HTH!

Ditto on the 1 day at Universal, 3 at DL.

Read Hydroguy's tips thread, especially the parts about DL for WDW vets: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1520483

I also would not suggest the Quality Inn, it's had some pretty bad reviews. Definitely try to get walking distance, though (see Hydroguy's Hotel Rule, above! :thumbsup2) Here's two links that show accomodations around DL: http://www.geocities.com/ashpsyche/DisneylandLinkMap.html and http://www.accommodationsneardisney.com/Disneyland/default.asp

We love HoJo! I think it's the nicest hotel on Harbor within walking distance.

Hope that helps!
