I need new makeup! Please help!

I'll second the recommendation for BB cream. I've been using Smashbox ($$) and love it. I do not usually wear any foundation since it seems to settle into my laugh lines, but this is not the case with BB cream. It also acts as a primer so my other makeup stays put all day.

I also use cream eye shadow (again Smashbox) and adore it. Goes on exactly where I want it and stays in place all day. I use the cream for the lid and crease but powder for just under the brow.

How do you know when it is bonus time? The only time I ever know is if I hear about it from someone, or I just happen to walk by the counter when a bonus is going on. I always stock up during bonus events!

In my area the Bonus time is always October and April/May. I call the two stores ahead of time and get the dates. One store gives you something extra if you pre-buy. The two stores have different Bonus selections entirely so it is good to get both! I use their skin are line so I can usually spread it out to get both Bonuses with two purchases.

I also love Mac. Their paintpot in a beige colour is the best eyeshadow primer. It is amazing how well the shadow stays with a base of that - and no creasing!!

Thanks! I will check it out. I totally stock up, so I usually have several bonuses when I am do e :cool1: our two stores here never have their bonuses at the same time, and I don't go to the mall that often, which is probably why I have had a hard time figuring it out :confused3

Again Thank You :worship: I love bonus time!

Do you get Rimmel where you live?? I also have a little pot of a gel/cream from them which mysteriously blends to match my skin tone when I use it. I never use powder over the top of either of these.

I'm going to second Rimmel for inexpensive good drugstore makeup. I have used their liquid foundation and pressed powder (for me the Stay Matte powder) and love them. Now, I also LOVE high end makeup, and I've used MAC, Makeup Forever (love the HD foundation) Benefit, and Chanel (awesome liquid foundation!) but for something that won't brake the bank, Rimmel is nice. Also like NYX for color (eyeshadows, lipstick/gloss), which I know Ulta usually carries. I agree that you should figure out what skin type you have (mine is combo/oily) because it will greatly help in choosing a makeup foundation that lasts like you need it too. The best way to find out (if you don't already know:) ) is to wash your face with a mild cleanser ( I like Clean & Clear, and Cetaphil is good too) and see how your face feels about 20 mins after (don't apply any moisturizer when you're trying to figure out your skintype, otherwise make SURE you apply a moisturizer with an SPF of at least 15 (once again, I think Clean & Clear has a good moisturizer). I love trying new makeup looks too, and you don't have to spend a ton to do that:) I have a fun 'full face look' for $20 that I put on my Blog (and Youtube channel lol) and I'll send you the link if you'd like. Hope you find something you like! I LOVE answering makeup questions:)

MAC Studio fix is great. Concealer, foundation and powder in 1. I'm using Garnier BB Cream at the moment. Mixed with a touch of MAC Lustre Drops x

Neutrogena Healthy skin foundation is my new fave foundation. I have read that it is a dupe for a popular Nars foundation, but I can't really comment on that since I've never tried the Nars version. Medium, buildable coverage and it stays put really well. Target often has coupons for it.

For powder I like Maybelline Instant Age Rewind finishing powder. Awesome stuff, and it's a dupe for MAC mineralize powder.

For lips, Rimmel Dreamy is my fave lipstick of all time. It goes great over just about any lip liner.

I use a bronzer by Rimmel in the shade Sun Light.

For eyes and cheeks I can't really recommend any drug store products since I have yet to find any that work for me. I personally use Frat Boy blush by TheBalm cosmetics, the NudeTudes eye shadow palette also by TheBalm and the Naked palette by Urban Decay. I also use an Urban Decay mascara, called Super Curl. I have heard good things about the Rimmel mascara ScandalEyes though.

Brushes are important too, I really like Sigma and Sonia Kashuk (found at Target).

Honestly, I used mineral makeup for about 10 years and recently tried the covergirl & olay foundation that was sent to me to try. I LOVE it. My problem was oily skin and hating to use foundation but this stuff I really love. I also use BB cream.

It lasts all day and has improved my skin tone and reduced dark spots too. Hope this helps.

I recently tried Covergirl + Olay Tone Rehab 2-in-1. I love it. Goes on nicely. Doesn't feel heavy and I don't look made up, but it is a nice even finish.

I have some $2 off coupons too and would be happy to stick some in the mail if you want to PM me with your address.

Thanks for the suggestions Tinkerbellie16. Can I ask what BB cream stands for? I looked it up on Amazon and it looks like they have blemish base, beauty balm and so many different kinds. It sounds interesting, but not sure what I'm even looking for LOL

I have heard this and think I might have to try it.

I currently use a BB Cream (BB stand for Beauty Balm for the PP asking) by Too Faced which I love. It's lightweight, light coverage, has spf 20 plus extra vitamins and good stuff for skin.

I also started using Garnier BB cream- LOVE IT! Evens out my skin tone, i use it just like a daily moisturizer- so it does 3 in 1 for me, moisturize, spf, and evens.

I went to walgreens and walmart today and picked up some items. I will use them tomorrow and let you know how I made out! Thanks for all the input.

LOL, I went to buy make up yesterday and went to pick up my regular Covergirl tinted moisturizer. It's now called BB......so who knew, I was using it the whole time.

Alright ladies.... here is what I bought and what I think about it!

Once upon a time I was using clinique tinted moisturizer and cover girl powder. It is old and I wanted new. So I went to Walgreens and here is what I brought home.

- Maybelline Dream liquid mousse foundation in nude beige - I LOVE THIS!! It covers really nice and feels light.
- Maybelline Dream Matte Powder - I really like this too. It covers really really well and leaves NO shine.
- Hard Candy blush crush baked blush in Honeymoon - So pretty just need a little and it adds a lot of shimmer
- Hard Candy moon glow - luminizing - great highlighting powder
- Maybelline dreamlumi touch concealer - it is ok - not going to buy again
- Maybelline Eye Studio gel eye liner - LOVE IT!
- Maybelline mega plush mascara - really like it but it is going to take me a bit to get used to the flexible brush.

I have some prime it up BE primer that I use under the foundation and that seems to help everything go on even. I really like the way my face feels when the makeup is on. It is light and doesn't feel sticky. It also make my face look flawless.

Thanks for all the suggestions on makeup!:)

Oh and I kept seeing something called a beauty blender in some of the makeup reviews I was watching.... I ordered some of the off brand ones and should get them this weekend. I will let you know how they work. They are supposed to help you apply liquid foundation flawlessly.

Glad you found products you like! Sounds like you have some fun new stuff to play with.

A question about the Mega Plush mascara- does it go on nicely (not too much at once, no clumps)? I am looking for a new mascara to make my lashes look thicker but a lot of the ones I've tried go on too gloppy- I feel like my lashes are weighed down with so much product!

Thanks for sharing.....so do you like the Maybelline mousse foundation as much as Covergirl? I looked at their makeup and thought about switching when I went shopping. Covergirl is just to 'red' for me....no matter what color I get it's always reddish on me. When I use Everyday Minerals I go with their 'green' colors and they match my skin tone better. Maybelline seemed to have some different shades that I thought might work but I've never used their foundations or powders.

I bought the Maybelline tattoo eye shadow that Tinkerb mentioned and I don't really care for it either :(. It seems oily....and it's just different when trying to get it on.....turns out to be a real sheer eyeshadow.

Does Walgreens still take makeup back? Maybe I need to make my next makeup shopping trip there so I don't keep wasting money LOL

CVS does - without a receipt a too! I have no problems trying new products because if I don't like them, I return them.

It does go on nice. I like it a lot it is just wierd how the brush moves.

I think it covers better. It doesn't feel as thick as the CG does.

I was told yes. As long as it was within reason. Whatever that means.

Laura Gellar has the best pressed powder on the market, it's about 30 bucks but it last's for at 6 to 8 months for me. I buy it at Ulta. :)
