I think my iPod is dying

I charged it up fully yesterday, played a game for a little while. I'd made sure it had gone back to the menu before I turned it off, yet I go back to it this morning, and it was down to 20% battery, even though it was at least 80% when I turned it off.

It does sound as though your Ipod is dying. If I were you I'd find an Apple Store and take it to the Genuis Bar there. They may be able to fix it or swap it out for the same model for a small fee. DS had his Ipod bite the dust about a year ago and the guy at the Apple Store swapped it out for DS for a $35 fee.

Hmmm, that could be worth a try, but the nearest Apple store to me is a 30 minute train journey. I have a years warrenty on it from where I bought it, but again the nearest one is in the same place, or I need to back to the store I got it, where I also worked, back in London, to get it tested and hopefully replaced.

If you have your warranty papers handy, maybe they have a service number on them or you could get that off of the Apple site? Possibly you could get around having to go to one of their stores and simply do it by mail...but then you'd have some time without your Ipod.

Problem being, as my iPod is second hand, the shop that I worked for provide their own warrenty, and I know for sure that they have no customer service number, I might have to try a long shot and hopefully send a message to an email that is only went for staff.

Well, good luck. I hope your able to get your fixed. I know I would be lost without mine. ::yes::

Thx, I just can't tell my friends about this, they're adament that iPods are stupid and that Zunes and Zens are the only media players worth having, but neither of them have access to the net

Before you do that, try cycling the power by letting the battery run out all the way and then charge it up fully. When it tells you it's done charging, take it off the charger and put it back on for a trickle charge (it'll try to put a bit more juice in the battery).

Hopefully that will help since it's hard for you to get to the Apple store! This is something you can try on your own.

Should I just leave an app or video running to drain the battery?

Hope you get this sorted. Another who would be very :sad1: if their ipod broke

Hmmm, well since 3pm yesterday, so about 21 hours, the battery seems to have held up, although I haven't used it just to see how long it takes for it to die, maybe it helped that I restored the entire thing???

Is this playing music :confused3 As I ocassionally play my entire library so that the battery is discharged fully :thumbsup2

No, but it was draining battery even when doing nothing, so I was checking that first

Set it to continuous shuffle or play straight through your list and force it to drain...

There is a place in Madison, Wisconsin called BDC Camera Repair (google it and it comes up) that works on I-pods. Our business sends our digital cameras and lenses there to get repaired and they are fantastic.
When you send your Ipod to them they'll give you an accurate repair estimate to see if it's worth it or not.
