As the chosen "tour guide" of all things Disney for our upcoming trip with my DH's side of the family, I am researching how to rent a car once on Disney property. My DH and I have only used Disney's transportation without difficulty and actually like the idea of someone else driving us around on our vacation!! ;) However, my MIL has been known to...ummm..."get emotional" (think "manic episode") and very much likes to be in control. She also hates humidity and has a bad back so I think others in our groups would like rental car options in the event that "Mom" starts to act up and doesn't want to wait for a bus.

Anyway, I'd like to be as prepared as possible to allieve eveyone's fears (that's what tour guides do, right?? ;) ), but I need some info. I know that you can rent cars through some of the resorts, but that's about all I know!

Help!...and thanks!
:p IVY :p

Ivy-

I've also seen that some resorts rent cars, but I don't remember which resorts. The conceirge desk should be able to help you find a car if you need it.

Good luck & have a great time!

Hi --

Last summer I flew into Sanford airport and found it cheaper and easier to rent a car from National/Alamo at the airport and drop it off at the car care center right on the DW property. The car care center (National/Alamo) has pretty good rates and also offers a free shuttle service to and from any resort. After I dropped my car off, they bussed me back to All Star Sports and then on our last day of vacation, they picked me up (I had to call to arrange it) early in the morning and took me to the car care center to pick up a car (which I dropped off at Sanford with no drop charge because of my Emerald Club membership).

Swan also has National cars but I thought the price was better at the car care center, as were the hours and the transportation.

Hope this helps.

I assume you are staying on Disney property. Alamo is the offical rental car company. You can call them from your room or special phones in the lobby and they will come get you and take you to the car care center to rent your car. They are also at the Swan or Dolphin (think it is the Dolphin)

The other option is to take the bus to DTD and walk. The DTD Courtyard has a Dollar and I think the Doubletree has and Avis rental.

Doubletree has a Budget car rental counter. That's where I'm dropping my car.

Alamo is the "official" rental car agency, and has thier main Disney office located at the Car Care Center near the MK. However, I've seen shuttle cars/vans/buses for all the major car rental agencies driving around property, so I'm sure whichever one you need will come and pick you up as needed.
