We are going to DL at the end of July. Either the 26-29, or the 24-29 if we can get a deal. I can't decide where to stay. My kids are 3, 5 and 7.5. We want to stay within walking distance so we can come back to the hotel midday for naps. I'd like to be really close, especially if we end up only being there 2 days. But if we can swing a longer stay, I don't mind staying a little further since we won't feel as rushed. What do you think?

As of now, our reserved 3 night stay at the Fairfield Inn (stayed there before and liked it), including 2 day park hopper tickets, is costing us $850. No free breakfast though, which for 5 of us is going to be alot. We are doing character dining for one morning, so if we only stay the 3 nights isn't a big deal, but if we can book a longer stay somewhere it has to include breakfast. Any thoughts, advice, opinions? TIA!

The last time I checked, the Candy Cane Inn had breakfast. The only problem is that the rooms are very small. That's the only one I can think of within walking distance where I was able to find free breakfast. Good luck!

Also, if you're a Disney Visa Card holder, they have 35% off property hotel rates at that time. I just switched my reservation for July 16-17 from HoJo to DLH because it was only about $50 more. That sounds like a lot but for DLH that's unheard of.

We also stayed at the Fairfield Inn and it was convenient for walking back for naps, and end of day walking back with tired children. I don't have other hotel recs for you that would save you money unfortunatley, I'm sure others will. However, keep in mind that Fairfield is participating in the 5 nights for the price of 3... and you can get the 5 day tickets for the price of 3. So it seems to me that adding another 2 nights to Fairfield won't cost you anymore than you are paying now...however you may have to book that through the disneyland website, because when I called Marriott directly, they had no clue what I was talking about. Of course the Fairfield themselves may, I didn't call that particular hotel.

About breakfast, if you have a car, you could make a store run to get quick things for breakfast in your room, or you can even do grocery store delivery for a few items and waters, you can do breakfast in your room that way for cheap. There is a McDonalds basically in the front of the parking lot to the Fairfield. We had McDonalds breakfast a lot during our stay...of course it does still add up, but cheaper than eating at the parks.

Good Luck! Hope you have a great trip.

Thank you both for the replies. We stayed at the CCI years ago and weren't too pleased. I think it was a fluke since I have heard nothing but raves about it from friends, but I'm still wary. The shuttle was convenient though, dropped you off really close.

I'm confused about the 5 for 3 deal. I did see Fairfield listed on the DL website for the 5 for 3 package deal, but it was way expensive. I think $1500 or so. Right now I'm paying $850 for three nights, and two day discounted park hoppers. So really I should only be paying the diff in ticket upgrade, which is $175 for all of us. That makes $1025. Not sure where that other $400 charge is coming from. Maybe I'll call the hotel directly.

Stay longer and the fairfield has the 5 for 3 price. we went with get away today and really saved a bundle.
I also read where if you buy an adult meal you get a free kids meal at milli's I will have to go look and see if thats still on. also you can do a shopping order thru vons. if you buy 50.00 in food you get free delivery at your motel. I would sugest you bring milk cereal and peanut butter and jelly and fruits etc if you are driving down, if not and you fly get vons to deliver. we are and I think its awesome.

Mamaofthree, I'd be intersted in hearing what you find out about the Fairfields 5 for 3 price! (If you don't mind updating when you find out). That is a big difference in pricing. I had priced it a couple weeks ago and seen the price of approx $1200 for 5 night and 5 days tickets for 4 people, (2 adults, 2 kids). I haven't done anything further with it. Of course the price I had seen is still more than your current pricing, that's why I would really be interested in hearing what they tell you.

Hotels within walking distance are

BWPPI
Tropicana
Desert Inn & Suites

There are many others and I do have a map at home that I will post for you later (unless someone else beats me to it) so you can see where the hotels are in location to the crosswalk.

I called and they didn't have the 5 for 3 special. It IS listed on the getawaytoday site as a package, but doesn't specify that the 4th and 5th nights are free like other participating hotels, so I don't think it applies. The $850 I quoted was for 3 nights at $119 each, but only 2 day park hopper tickets. Basically, if I want to stay two more nights it's gonna cost me a lot more. I'd have to upgrade my tickets, and spend more on food, hotel increase would depend on where I stay. I'm really not sure I WANT to stay 5 nights anyway with three little kids. Can I say that on this board, lol?! Maybe we'll just plan another trip soon. :)
