I see that you are getting married this fall...planning stuff like that can make you stressed! But, you don't want to keep feeling bad about yourself before your big day. The best thing if you are binging on sweets is to clean house of ALL sweets. Candy, cookies, ice cream, and the other high starch, low protein things like chips and pretzels. For a few days you may go through a type of "withdrawal"...I know when I have a splurge meal or family holiday with lots of refined sugar and starches I get a headache that night and sometimes the next day because I don't eat this stuff in my normal eating habits. Once you get these type of things out of your house and get healthier choices (veggies, low fat cheese, low sugar yogurt, apples, watermelon, pears) to replace them, the cravings should subside. Now, I am also a stress eater, but if the stuff isn't around to eat, then you won't eat it, right? I've been known to look in the fridge, look in the pantry, the fridge, freezer and come to the conclusion that a) there's nothing "bad" to eat and b) I don't really want anything now anyway. Usually in about 5 to 10 minutes, you figure that you don't need it and grab a glass of water and that's it. Plus, sometimes, as I've read on these boards, people "diet"...I believe that binging and cravings for sweets and salt is from the lifestyle we live and that no "diet" can change that. It has to be an approach to living everyday, healthy and happy. Plus, exercise everyday does a lot to what you are willing to put in your body. I lift 3 days a week and do 30 minutes of cardio 2 days a week. I can say that for myself, it is a lot easier to eat well when I have worked out. I hope that you get some helpful info out of this....ps...I have 3 kids under 7 and a husband that travels a lot at work so many times I am tempted to eat under stress. But, I think of the longterm goals, and try to think how good I will feel the next morning knowing I stayed on the healthy path. Good luck and congrats on you wedding!
