We are flying into Tampa on 6/27 and going home on 7/7. We definitely need a minivan but I am having no luck finding anything under $600. Is that the going rate or is there somewhere else I should be looking? I would appreciate any help. Thank you!

Although I'm renting in Orlando, I've found Alamo to be the cheapest for minivans. I have one for 6/26-7/5 for $492. When I orginally booked 2 months ago it was over $550 so the price is dropping slowly. Sign up for their rewards program (free) and the price does drop significantly. You can also add some coupon codes like entertainment book ones will add another discount on top of the rewards program.

To help with some alternatives, people would need to know:

- Do you absolutely need a minivan? These are often the one of the most expensive types of rentals, and often a large car or SUV would do the trick.
- Are you going to WDW? If so, there are rental places on property. If this were the case, you could rent something one way, for the day, at Tampa, drop off and then rent something a little smaller at WDW (no need to carry luggage at that point), or not rent and depend on WDW transportation, and then rent a bigger vehicle one way back to Tampa at the end of the trip.
- Look at kayak.com, travelocity, priceline, etc. to see if they show any lower rates for your dates.

We don't absolutely need a minivan just something that will comfortably fit my dh, myself, teenage son, 11 yr old son and baby in a car seat. We are going to Disney but 1st going down to visit family in Port Charlotte so definitely need a car the whole time.

The fact that you are going to be there over the 4th is one of the reasons you are getting high prices.
