Has anyone ever had a mistake in their favor that MS won't fix? (Warning! This is complicated!)The reason why I am asking is we used 160 developer's points for our last vacation and for some reason they were never deducted. When I called to make our reservation for this year the CM informed me we still had 160 dev. points to use. I explained that we had already used these points in Nov. and that it was a mistake we shouldn't have any dev. points left, to which she replied that it wasn't and that she would have someone call me and explain it to me( I think she thought I was ignorant:confused3 ). Someone called me back the next day and I explained that I wanted to be honest and that the dev. points were used for our Nov. 2007 trip and we shouldn't have any DP's left. The CM said he would make a note of it. The next day I call MS to finish adding on another day to my res. and I am told I have a 160 more normal(not developer) points more in my account than I should:eek: . I checked the DVC website and sure enough when they took away the dev. points they replaced them with regular points. I called back again and explained what happened and the CM just said they would send me an activity statement and that my points were correct. I called back again and was told the same thing. There is no way they are correct.

That was a couple of weeks ago and the extra 160 points are still in my account. I have tried to be honest with them and I don't want to use/steal points I am not entitled to but MS doesn't seem to care:confused3 . What would you do? My DH says to just forget it because I have tried to be honest and they don't seem to want to listen. My concern here is that they have used those points for an upcoming reservation and I don't want them to finally catch their mistake and cancel my ressie because it was made with invalid points. I do have plenty of points to borrow from 2009 if I need to cover the reservation. What would you do?

Beats me popcorn::

If you bought in 2007, you would receive both 2007 and 2008 points. Have you taken this into account? Perhaps you just started with a whole UY full of points you didn't expect.....

Sounds the likely answer to me, as Developer Points will never appear online only your regular contracted points.

A mistake in your favor is never a mistake, it's a gift. :banana: :banana: :banana:

Thanks for the replies so far! Ok, in June purchased 160 AKV pts with a March UY so I received the 160 2007 points plus 160 Dev. points(No 2006 points with AKV's correct?). I used 276 points for my vacation in Nov. So that should have used the 160 Dev. points and then 116 normal points from my 2007 UY (276-160DP=116). This should have left me with a total of 44 points left in my 2007 UY. I actually banked those points in Aug. so that should have left me with 0pts in 2007 and 204pts(44+160)in 2008, Right? My account always reflected this until I talked to that CM at MS. After talking to him my account on the DVC website and according to MS showed that I had banked 204 points in 2007:scared1: and now have a grand total of 364 points in my 2008 UY! I did check to make sure that somehow they didn't borrow from my 2009 UY and that seems to be fine.

I know this is all confusing, I'm sorry! So unless I am missing something, someone at MS messed up.

Until I questioned the first cm I had no idea they had not used the DP's for my Nov. vacation because they don't appear online. I think what happened is that when they made the original ressie they forgot to debit my DP's. So it showed I still had 160 DP's left. When I told them that I had already used those points the MS CM must have gone ahead and credited me 160 contract points for the 160 DP's which left me with an extra 160 points.

I am not complaining, I just want to make sure my Nov. 2008 reservation is not cancelled because of this! I have tried to do the right thing to no avail. I guess I should just be happy that I have an extra 160pts and enjoy them.:woohoo:

Perhaps you got double developer's points and didn't know it?

Yes Double Developer points would of been on offer around the time you purchased as we bought end of July beginning of August and got DDP, but you cannot bank them, so confused a bit more now :confused3

Nope!:) We purchased just before they started offering Double Developer points and the points show up online and were banked. But thanks for the try!:thumbsup2

I guess my question is, do you think they will cancel my reservation, if or when they find out about the error or will they just reallocate my points? There should be notes in the computer about my trying to inform them right? I just don't want to lose my reservation.

I'm having the same problem now, but it is not for Developer points. I had to rent out a DVC reservation recently because of my mother's death; it was 45 points for 12/9 - 12/14 AKV studio (transferred 2007 AKV points). I then had an additional 74 AKV points transferred into my account for the 2008 UY so I could have the 11 month advantage for an upcoming trip. I called to make a November reservation in mid-December (since have changed trip plans to December 2008). A very nice, and with it CM (if you know what I mean), mentioned I had 45 transferred points sitting in my holding account and they would be expiring soon. I told her that couldn't be because I had rented those out and the reservation was used. She said she didn't know what happened, but that she would go ahead and return them to my regular account so they wouldn't expire. So now, everytime I contact MS I ask how many transferred points for AKV I have and it is still 119. I keep telling them it is in error, but how much longer should I wait before I take them up on a free trip. :confused3 One CM even noticed the 12/9 - 12/14 reservation had been used, but said I still had the 119 AKV points.

I remember reading about this happening to someone when their renters were upgraded at check-in, but I think MS finally figured it out a couple of months later and debited it. I tried to do a search but couldn't find the thread. Does anyone remember this? :confused3

They will NOT cancel a reservation without contacting you first. If/when they catch their mistake, they will call you and ask how you want to allocate points for that stay.

Thank you to all who applied! I feel much better now. I am sure that at some point they will catch their error and my vacation is over Thanksgiving week and I just don't want my ressie cancelled. I have plenty of points to cover my ressie, they just used those points first because they were banked points from 2007. Hopefully when/if they catch it, they will just swap out the points and that will be it. And if they don't catch it, it is on them as they were told there was a problem. Thanks for everyone's help, I knew someone on this board would know/understand!:yay:
