I hope a DL expert can help me figure out how to purchase tickets to our first trip in a long time to DL and my son's first trip!

Information: Me, DH, DS
Current DVC member and AP holder. My AP's expire on 2/23. :headache: I will be in DL 2/22-2/26 (President's week, have a son in HS, so can't really change my dates - maybe can arrive one day earlier if I can somehow use my current AP)

Can I somehow upgrade my current AP in DL and buy a premium AP? and is it worth it? We will only be in DL 3 days. :confused3

Also, I have 3 - 2 day WDW non-park hoppers that I would like to use towards renewing/upgrading my passes - can I do that in DL like WDW? These tickets are from a Free Dining purchase - I usually use them to renew my WDW AP.

Any help or suggestions are appreciated. This is all new territory for me and I have been trying to search for my answers but there is so much information out there! This trip came out of the blue - thanks to Southwest and 50,000 pts. towards airfare!

Thanks!

And I need to change my trip ticker!

Okay I need to clarify a few things...

You are a WDW AP holder or a DL AP holder?

If you are a WDW AP holder than that won't help you at Disneyland unless you renewed to a Premier (not premium) AP. But it wouldn't be a good financial move unless you were planning on renewing WDW AP (at highest level) and/or returning to DL within the following year.

Thanks for your reply!

I am a current WDW passholder. I was trying to figure out if it would be worth it to upgrade my current AP to "premier" while it was still active.

It expires in the middle of my trip, but we may be able to arrive a day earlier and then it would expire when we are leaving. I would then renew it in WDW in August.

My other question was would I be able to renew my current AP to a premier while I was there if I was going to be in DL during the days that it expired. (sounds like it will not be worth the extra $$)
And, if I could renew/upgrade it using my 2 day non-hopper WDW pass.

It's confusing........

If you "upgraded" that close to your expiration it'd be a renewal not an upgrade at the full price. I don't know that they'd just do an upgrade for the last couple of days. If they did, it'd be the full price difference and you'd have the same expiration date midtrip. I don't think you can apply unused WDW tickets to a pass in Disneyland (even premier) because they don't know how to value the tickets. You may get a CM that's able to figure it out, but thats a crap shoot. Your best bet may be just get a 3 day Disneyland pass. I'd hold off on buying them though since there are often ticket discounts in February. They are typically announced around Christmas.

Thank you again - and that makes a lot of sense! I just didn't want to find out after the fact that I could have some how used my passes.

And, I will keep an eye out for discounts and specials. I was looking around today, and it seems that that information is not out yet. We are also wait listed at the GCV, but I am not holding my breath on that one and maybe a discount will be just as good!

Room discounts will likely come out around Christmas too. Disneyland doesn't go too far out on discounts. And typically doesn't announce the next special until after the booking cutoff for the current one. Typical ticket discounts for that time of year is "everyone pays kids price". I'm not sure on what the room discounts are since we don't stay onsite. I'll keep my fingers crossed on your wait list for GCV. :tinker:

I will keep checking! This is all so foreign to me! We have been going to WDW twice a year for over 13 years so I feel like I don't know anything that is going on!

We are also taking a side trip to Vegas and haven't been there in 14 years!

But it sure is fun to really plan and investigate our options!

I know what you mean. We just took our first trip to WDW in September. They are such different experiences.
