I need help with a Maine vacation......

Due to a lot of stuff you don't want to hear about -- I'm terribly late in planning our vacation this year. Half the family wants beach and half wants mountains so I thought how about Arcadia National Park in Maine. I have no clue where a good area would be to stay. I think we might even like to be on a pond or lake, maybe 30 to 45 min. from Arcadia. If anyone can help steer me in the right direction I would be grateful. Oh and what stuff should we do while we are there?

You need to go to Jordans pond house for pop overs and tea. Bike the carriage trails. Go whale watching. They have a really neat old movie theater. Its cool just go and check it out inside.
You could take the Cat to Nova Soctia

We spent a few days in Bar Harbour a couple of years ago. Acadia is really beautiful. Sorry I can't remember what hotel we stayed in, it was a very last minute getaway and we called several places before we got a reservation (I'm talking less than a week beforehand). There are many hotels right near the entrance to Acadia. Be sure to go to the top of Cadillac Mt. The view is really nice. Lobster dinners are great too. If you have kids they might like a Cool-as-a-Moose t-shirt, really cute. The store is right in downtown Bar Harbour. For that matter you may like one yourself!! We didn't stay too long, just a few days so I can't help you too much, but maybe someone else can.

I live in Maine, and I went to Acadia when I was younger but I really can't help you, sorry! It is such a beautiful state though, I'm sure you'll have a wonderful trip!
