I need help with a booking problem...

I've done the cash/points/2-BR dedicated/lock-off thing many times. I thought I had it all straight on one trip and ended up changing rooms three times. Lock-offs are not bookable on member cash. They are bookable on points. Take the advice of everyone (myself included) and book everyone their own room. Pay for the weeknights with your points (if that's your goal) and weekends with member cash. Make your guests pay for their own weekend nights with their money. If they don't have the money for the weekend nights, On Friday, wish them a magical journey home or a great stay at All-Stars. You trip appears to have a disappointment factor of 85-90%.

To much familiararity breads contempt, isn't that how the saying goes??

Don't give up your future vactions to provide others a trip that they appear not to be happy with.

Good Luck.

Let me guess. No one is paying for anything, but they MUST have PRIVATE SPECIAL accomdations.

At this point I would tell them that a One bedroom rents for X a night and get DS a studio.... This is NOT gonna be good otherwise. These people want YOU to finance a vacation where they make NO accomdations RUN!!!!!!! NOW while you can!

I totally agree with CarolA, this is a disaster in the making. If they are paying there share then have them book there own rooms without you in the mix. Request to be near each other and that is it. This will remove you from any feelings of guilt if it doesn't work as planned. Requests are just that, requests. I'd hate to see you get there banking on the lock off units and end up with 2 dedicated 2 bedrooms. Book seperate units or have them book on there own. You'll thank us later.

Just wanted to let you all know what happened when we talked to MS this morning. The CM was extremely helpful and nice. We booked a guaranteed 2-bdrm lock-off all on points, a 1-bdrm unit with member cash, and a studio unit with member cash. We could have had a dedicated 2-bdrm but I just don't think that would have worked out after reading all of you folk's experiences. LoL I think this will work out fine. We requested the units be near to each other and she said there shouldn't be any problem with that although we know it's not written in stone. Thank you all again for your help and your great suggestions!

I'm glad that worked out but what was the issue on booking all or none as you noted earlier. I'm assuming you couldn't book a lockoff 2 BR at all on cash but you tell us what you found out.

I'm sorry. I was so nervous and then relieved that I neglected to say what I found out. The CM at MS told me that a lock-off cannot be booked with cash. Discounted or rack rate. Nor can they be divided up between cash and points. Lock-offs can only be booked with points and are reserved for members only. Dedicated units can be booked with cash, member cash, and a combo of the two. They also can be booked through CRO for cash by non-members. As I posted earlier we did get a guaranteed lock-off using our points. We also could have gotten a dedicated 2-bdrm with cash or points and cash but had we chosen the combination we would have been made to move during our stay. I have read of other members doing this without having to change rooms but this CM stated that she had never heard of that and we definitely would have to move. So we booked the other two rooms as separate units with a request to be near each other. She didn't seem concerned about a member being in those rooms but she did say we may have to list our two names in those rooms if there's a problem at check in. My original concern of whether we would be able to book one with cash and one with points was answered I guess but I was hoping we could do it without the hassle of moving to different rooms. At least I know now for future bookings. Thank you all again and I hope what I found out cleared up any questions you might have had about this situation as well.

That is the info I expected but I was curious as to the final outcome.
