Here is my situation. I am planning a trip with family for the last week of Jan 09. All adults, Me, DH, DM, DMIL, DFIL, and DSIL. DMIL and DFIL are full time RVers, so they will stay in FW with their puppy and ours. I am looking for a resort for the rest of us. We do not want to stay at a value resort. We are looking at the Moderates or Deluxe. I would like all of us to share a room, but my DH does not want to be on top of one another. My DH also refuses to have a double bed (he is 6 foot 4). I looked at the suites, but do not want to pay $800.00 a night. It is hard to decide without having any idea what I should expect to pay. Does anyone have any helpful ideas?

WL has queen beds and sleeps four (you, DH, DM and SIL). You should be able to get a room for $225 or so per night. Plus it is a great place to stay - what about adjoining rooms?

Here is an important fact that I left out. I really doubt my SIL will want to share a bed with my Mom. I really do not blame her (they barely know on another). This is why I looked at the AKL rooms with queen and bunk beds. I know it sounds silly, but I thought it could work. I showed my DH pictures, and he felt like the room looked really small.

They also have bunkbed room at WL. There is also the deluxe room (more exp.) but it has a BR w/2 queen beds and a sitting room with a pull out coach. A nice bonus to that is that it is club level too! You'll also be able to visit w/the fam at FW really easily. You can rent bikes and go over or take a ferry.

Have you considered renting a DVC unit from an owner? You could check the DVC Rent Board and possibly find something large enough for all of you. A 2-bedroom villa sleeps 8 people. It might be something to think about.

When we went with my DMIL and DSIL, we stayed in a two-bedroom villa. It was perfect. It is the equilavent of two hotel rooms (one with a king bed and one with two queen beds), two bathrooms, a living room and kitchen as well as washer and dryer. The king room has a whirlpool tub which is great after long days in the park.
If I were you, I would rent points and reserve a two-bedroom villa at the VWL that way you will be close to Fort Wilderness and will have a living room where you can all hang out plus privace and space.
I don't know how long you are staying so I will give you an average price. We usually arrive on a Saturday, spend the first night at Pop and then stay at our main resort so that we don't have to pay for weekends. You will not have to pay taxes for the rooms.

two bedroom villa at VWL
Pts. rent for about $11 a pt.
If you stay Sun. - Thurs.
30 pts./nt. x $11 = $330 per night

If you book a full week using pts.
270 pts./wk x $11 = $2970 per week
averaging out to $424 per nt.

I hope that this helps,
Regina

your best bet is a deluxe. Queen bed for you and DH. another queen bed and the nice size daybed (nearly twin size, my DS15 slept on it fine)

all mods have 2 doubles or 1 king. except a few suites that are very pricey

AKL and WL only have 2 Q or 1King and then the bunk bed options. someone willing to climb up top every night. plus they are smaller sq footage then the higher priced deluxes. POLY has largest sq footage of all deluxes. again, so worth it with 4 adults in a room.

or rent DVC but you again are looking at smaller room and only 2 beds (studio)unless you get a 1 bedroom.

yup, it's pricey but you couldn't talk me into a cabin, I think I'm roughing it being in the AB section of POR with only double beds and that country back woods decor!

allears.net runs down all these options and shows you pics/prices too.

From what I can tell the FW cabins have only double beds and your husband doesn't want that; that is why I recommended the WL. Also I recommended the Villas because one room at the main resort will feel crowded when there are four adults and a child; and because two-bedroom villa gives you much more space and privacy.

Check out my CSR website below for pics and info. For mods, a king bed is your only option and CSR does offer suites.

also remember you will be charged more for anyone over 2 adults in a room...villas are different i think.

let us know what ends up working for you!

Hey! look at my post count! how did that happen? no wonder no housework is getting done!:surfweb:
