I think your group will love the DL hotel, it by far has the best pool and is a "fun" atmsosphere. The Grand CA is a beautiful hotel but it has a little more "formal" feel to it.

I've never stayed at the DLh before but we did do the GCH last Oct. From what I read from the boards you can't go wrong witrh either hotel. I'll tell you about our experience at the GCH. The morning we checked in, dh went to check in and I took our kids dd(4) and ds(7) to the lobby to wait. There was a castmember there with coloring pages and crayons. The kids colored while we waited for dh to check in. It's a beautiful lobby, very subdued disney. Each night an activities sheet for the next day was left in your room. Housekeeping coems twice a day (once in the morning and once in teh early eveving for turn down service-chocoaltes left on nightstand). There are lots of activities to do taht are specific to this hotel, I believe. There's a grand quest whichc is a scavenger hunt throughout the hotel, upon completeion the kids got a character cookie from Whitewater Snacks. There's storytelling be hearth in the early evening. Brisk walks through DCA before it opens to the public, napkin folding classes, drwaing classes, early entry to build a bear workshops and other downtown disney stores like the lego store. My kdis have never been to the NEverland Pool, but they absolutely love the pool at GCH. there was a big slide, (ds went on that) and a little slide (dd went on that). There are 2 pools and a wading pool and 2 hot tubs. We'd take a break from the park and head to the pools in the afternoon. One of the best part of th hotel according to my kids was the fact that we had a bunkbed room ( a queen bed, a bunkbed with trundle) So we actually had 4 beds. It was actually spacious for us, my parents had a room with 2 queens and that seemed to take up a lot more floor space and seemed more crowded. SToryteller's Cafe here is a character meal. You can opt for the brunch or oder off the menu. We ate here 3 of the 5 morning we were there. DS a big eater always had the brunch while the rest of us ordered off the menu. Dh tried teh brunch once and wa completely stuffed by it. The mini bar is actually on sensors, so whether you drink it or not, just moving an item will trigger a charge on your bill. WE had ours locked before we went to our room. We also asked for a refrigerator to be grought up. We absolutely love GCH and will be staying there again with the other inlaws in the fall. We eventually want to stay at the DLH, but since we're going with the grandparents we figure the shorter the walk the better. We loved the proximity of GCH to the parks. From what I've read, DLH's decor is more traditional disney and more kid friendly (glow in the dark pixie dust on the walls of room). It's got wake-up calls from Mickey himself (GCH does not have this). The Themed pool - Neverland pool is also a big hit with kids. Monorails will only be traveling one way after January, so there is that consideration to make. Either way, you can't go wrong with either hotel. Have a great trip.

We stayed at the DLH and loved it, and are about to go back. My dd 5 loved the disney feel, the pool and remote control boats. At night we would just wonder around the grounds. It was great.

IMO PP isn't in the same league as DLH and GC. I agree with the poster who felt GC is a little more "formal". DLH seems to me to be a little more fun and relaxed.

No matter what you can't go wrong!

I agree with all the replies.

Paradise Pier was NOT a Disney hotel originally. It was purchased by Disney and given a theme. It is nice but lacks a great pool or great location. Cheaper of course.
