to include in Ashli's graduation annoucements. I want to put a little note in the invitations because so much of our family lives quite a distance from us and they aren't really aware of a lot of the things Ashli is up to and how she's doing. My problem is this: I want to tell them about some of Ashli's accomplishments (honor graduate, her class ranking, the scholarships she's received, etc.) but I don't want to send some kind of brag letter. I've been working on this and I haven't come up with anything acceptable yet. Do you guys think I should leave that kind of stuff out of it and just focus on where she intends to go to college and some plans she has for the future? I'm worried enough about this that I've just about decided not to send the note at all. What do you guys think?

I say it's ok to brag. This is a great and wonderful accomplishment, her time to shine so to speak.

Good luck with whatever you decide and I am very interested in what everyone else has to say!!

Congratulations to Ashli!!

I have the same problem, but I have few more years to figure out how to deal with it (oldest DD is only 4) :teeth: Anyway, how about something simple and straightforward like:

We wanted to let you know about Ashli's sucesses and her plans for the future. She is and honor grad ranking ??? in her class. Thankfully, she got a scholarship to help offset college expenses at XYZ University where she plans to study ???. After college she is hoping to....

I hope this helps.

You should definitely include her accomplishments. It's not annoying if you don't go on and on about it. I'm sure people would like to know about the things she's worked so hard on.

I don't think it's bragging, and Ashli certainly has earned the praise. If the notes are going to family, they should be happy to hear that she's doing so well.

I think her plans for the future will probably make her accomplishments clear enough. I have a rather large extended family and always hear about my cousins kids through the grapevine. I would tell a few family members and let them do the bragging!

I love getting letters that list accomplishments. It seldom sounds like bragging to me. I say go for it.
