I need Brown Derby reviews.

I posted the below about a month ago. Search the archives, you'll turn up dozens. Dunno why people don't look there first....

I liked quesadillas and the Brown Derby did a great job on their version. I wasn’t quite sure what I was ordering when I asked for the “Cobb filet”, and when it arrived, I still wasn’t certain. The description above is my best attempt and it tasted surprisingly good. The filet and the cobb salad are not natural pairs, and I ate the separately. I probably should have skipped the shrimp. My almond shortcake ended the meal nicely as I like almond and found it to be light enough following the big filet.
Heather’s clams were good, but she really would have preferred the standard steamed clams at Cape May Cafe- the extra stuff was distracting from the simple taste that is a steamed clam. She found the strip steak to be nice an cooked rare to her liking. The ‘taters were good and creamy while the shrimp was a great deal better than the ‘Ohana shrimp (and they were peeled!). Her dessert was almost too pretty to eat, but munch it she did after we took some pictures. The delicious cheesecake had a very tasty raspberry puree on the side.

Our server graciously provided a complimentary glass of champagne, although at this point we were drinking more than we had the entire previous 12 months.

Enjoyed lunch very much there last visit. I am not sure this would be a great pick with kids, but a great meal for adults.

We ate there for dinner one night and we weren't that impressed with the meal. It was extremely over priced for the serving portion that we got. The cobb salad was mediocre at best, and not very big, yet its been described as enough to serve 2 as a meal.
We also had a steak dinner and while it was ok, I have to say the ones at the YS were far better for the same amount.

i think it's really the only choice in MGM
the cobb salad is very good, but filling
last time they had a great bisque soup

a little expensive, but what isn't at WDw

We (myself and BF) ate lunch there recently, and I thought it was lovely. Sure, it was overpriced, but so's just about everything else at Disney -- grin and bear it. I had the Cobb salad -- I expected it to be huge, but it was just the right size and very good. BF had the New York strip with really tasty mashed potatoes and some lovely green beans. We shared a piece of grapefruit cake for dessert (rather like lemon cake with a bit more zing to it). We felt satisfied when we were finished, but not stuffed full. Our waitress was pleasant and brought us a copy of the Brown Derby book to leaf through while we were waiting for our orders. The restaurant itself is fun to look at, and we had a good time trying to identify the celebs in the line drawings on the walls. I don't think it's a place to take small children, but it might work for an elementary school-age child, if you make a big deal out of it being special and elegant and an "on your best behavior" kind of place. (I would've looooooved this place when I was 9 or 10.)

Thanks for asking this MickMan. I have always wanted to try BD and just made a ps for us for our upcoming trip. I'm glad to hear mostly good reviews!

We have eaten at BD twice, using the FDP both times.
BD isn't our favorite WDW restaurant, but we both really like it and plan on revisiting. :)
Both times the service and food have been very good. And by WDW food prices, I didn't walk away feeling like we got the lesser end of the deal (like I have at Mama Melrose's and CA Grille).

Hi rhodgkie,

I'm here in Manhattan, Kansas!

My husband, 9 year old daughter and I ate lunch there 9/19 and enjoyed it very much. The quiet, elegant atmosphere was a nice change of pace from the heat of the park. Service was slow, but the food was great. We especially enjoyed the creme brulee for dessert.

We try to eat there every chance we get. We have not had a bad meal there. Yes, it is pricey. We took our DD there for her 11th birthday and she was wearing a "Today I'm 11" button and they treated her like royality. She really thought that was a great place to eat. Last year we ate Christmas dinner there and It was perfect. Ate dinner and then went and looked at the Osbourne Lights.

Have eaten dinner at BD about 7 times now--can recommend Cobb Salad, the filet (marinated in Coca-Cola, of all things!), the pork loin entree, and the grapefruit cake.
Their wine list is OK, the beer offerings have shrunk to almost nothing.
If you go anywhere near fantasmic show times, you'll probably find the place noisy and hurried, with many patrons far more interested in getting to Fantasmic on time than they are with the food they've ordered.
This used to be a much beter and more relaxed restaurant when they had a piano player and a bar area where you could wait to be seated. Now it's mostly a pre-Fantasmic feeding ground.

We had a great dinner here back in July. It was my first time trying the Cobb salad, and while I was a little hesitant, due to such a variety of reviews about it ... I loved it! We had a party of 7, and got many different dishes .. and everyone really liked what they got.
