I need bed sheet recommendations

I have a king sized bed. I usually buy my sheets at walmart (I'm cheap) ;)

Anyhow, I'm sick and tired of these sheets. The material "pills" and I want to finally break down and buy a "good" set of sheets. And hopefully a decent price. Any ideas?

We get all of our sheets at Costco, their brand, Kirkland brand, and they are just wonderful and not terribly expensive. 60-70 for the set. 500+ thread count. But you have to be a member.

If you have a Ross anywhere near you I highly recommend them. They have very good quality high thread count sheets for half the price of some of the other stores. I just bought a pack of King size 500 thread count sheets there last week for $27.99. I absolutely love the ones I have gotten there in the past, they wash and wear very well, no pills or anything so far and one of the sets I have had for over a year.

If you don't have a Ross, Target usually has some decent prices on good sheets. Kohl's CAN have good prices if you catch them on sale, otherwise in my neck of the woods Kohl's sheets can get pretty steep. Linens N Things and Bed Bath and Beyond have been the absolute worst in my search as they always have great sheets but INSANE prices.

The store brand high thread count sheets at JC Penney's are pretty good, but they don't go on sale often. When they do have a sale, you can pick up a good deal though. They always have a whites sale in January if you can wait that long, but keep an eye out, the the economy in the crapper they may have some good deals pre-Christmas.

slickdeals.net has a 600 thread count for $40 with free shipping. Run because that deal will not last.

We're looking for new sheets too. We have had a couple of different sets from Eddie Bauer Home, and we always liked all the sets they had. Now we can't find anything we like, anywhere.

Sheets are difficult. I bought a set at BJs and had to throw them out--too rough. Bought a set at Marshall's--too rough also.

Right now, I am alternating with a set that I bought 25 years ago and a set from Croscill that I've had for 5 years. They were both very expensive. My mom said the Martha Stewart one's from K-Mart aren't bad (about $60 for a queen set). My son has some on his bed. I've washed them twice but the jury is still out on them.

Sadly, Linens N' Things is going out of business. Right now the entire store is 10 to 30% off. It will only go lower as the liquidators try to get rid of all of the stock. So you may try there if you have a store near you. They're not taking coupons anymore though.

Really? Wow.

I second the vote for Costco. I got a GREAT King set there on special with an insane thread count...1000 I think? Price was good and the feel?....mmmmmmmmmm.

This wasn't their regular set, it was one of those special buys they seem to get in from time to time.

agnes!

Tuesday Morning if you have one close by. They have really good quality linens that turn up in their stock, at very good prices. I've paid as little as $30/set for Queen sized egyptian cotton with a thread count over 500.

We just bought an IKEA king bed and bought all the bedding as well from IKEA and the sheets are LOVELY!!! :thumbsup2

Any kind of Egyptian cotton 300 + TC will do. The sateens get too rough before the nights over. Kohl's usually has good bargains for the Egyptian cottons.

I know L n T is going out of business, but they carry my favorite sheets, so it may be worth a trip. They're Wamsutta Expressions and come in lots of colors. Very soft and no pilling.
