It is very cold here in the NE today. So last night I'm discussing with my DD what she is going to wear to school today so she is warm, etc. I know the schools keep the buildings pretty warm in the winter, but the wind is howling and being the protective mother I am....you get the idea.

I have some Disney things put away for our upcoming trip. So I go pull out a Disney hoodie for her to wear over her shirt today (this is for in-school - she would be wearing a winter coat to school of course). She looks at me and says "mom, I'll wear it when we're in Disney, but I'm not wearing that to school". I was devistated :sad2:

So, can anyone tell me the age group (she's currently 12) when she will think Disney-wear is cool again :confused3

She will wear that stupid cool bunny on her clothing but not Disney to school....I just don't get it.

That post made me smile. When I was 17 we were at WDW and I was cold so my mum bought me a sweatshirt with Mickey on (front and back) I wore it that night but would not put it on when we got home! I gave it to my cousin in the end who wore it in bed! This was a few years ago - I am 31 now and looking forward to my second trip to Disney aug 07 - I wonder if I can still get one of those sweatshirts? :rotfl:

My DD 11 is the same way. Loves Disney but would never wear it to school. I see older girls wearing it so I am sure they will outgrow it. :thumbsup2

Wow, I must have a unique DD. She is 13 1/2 (can't forget that 1/2 :lmao: ) and if she had her way she would wear her Disney shirts to school everyday. She has disney earrings in everyday and a disney ring that she wears constantly.

When we were picking out the Disney tops at WDW, she was rather particular about what she liked and what she didn't. And experience has certainly taught me if there is any hesitation, don't get it, it will live forever in the closet!

I should add that I too wear my disney ring, earrings and an amazing Disney jacket that I paid big bucks for, everyday!!

Yeah that sounds about right to me. I think the last time I wore a disney shirt to school was in third grade, I got made fun of, got in a fight and that was it for a long time. The next time I wore a Disney T was in college and now that I'm in law school I wear my Disney tee shirts and disneyland hoodie all the time.

That said, I have worn a Mickey mouse watch my entire life!

Yeah. She'll definitely outgrow it. It'll probably take her until college. I've always loved Disney but I wouldn't dare wear a Disney t-shirt or hoodie when I was in junior high or high school! :rotfl: I wear them now (at age 25) with no problem!

Wow - you guys made me feel better. I was beginning to think she was losing some of her magic feelings about Disney. pixiedust:

The hoodie I got for her is not overly Disney (I know she's outgrown allot of the Princess stuff), but I thought she would love it. Well, I guess she will love it at Disney and then sleep in it the rest of the winter! :lmao:

My family and I were in the Disney store on Sat. I had DS11 shipping like crazy, DS13 doesn't see anything of interest. I figured I'd buy him a t-shirt and pajamas anyway, to avoid the he got more than me at the mall conversation later. Well, lo and behold who comes down stairs wearing his Tigger pj's and he's says they are comfortable too. :cool1: He is still insiting he'll only wear the t-shirt in Disney though :confused3

Your DD sounds like my DH. I want to get everyone t-shirts or sweatshirts for our trip but I don't think he'll go for it... :laundy: DD10 thinks it's totally cool to wear her Disneyland sweatshirt (and so do I! )

I think they do outgrow it for a while. I don't know what age it comes back. I guess I didn't get it really bad till at least 40 or so. Now I'm decked out head to toe everyday. :thumbsup2

What a cute thread! And it's giving me hope, too. My DD7 will wear her Disney stuff anytime. Someone did say something about her Pooh shirt, but she went back the next day and said that her 38 year old mom loves Pooh and she loves Pooh, too. Made me proud! I know, I know....she'll go through the won't-wear-it phase too, but I'm still crossing my fingers.

Now, my 2 boys, on the other hand.....got them those "sketch" shirts they had at the Disney Store before our trip. DS11 got Stitch and DS15 got Pluto. They both wore them proudly at Disney, but they both also said they wouldn't be wearing them at school. :( And DS15 looks SOOOO handsome in the mustard-y yellow color, too......

I did have one convert, though. DH also said he'd only wear his (Goofy) at Disney, but now he wears it all the time. And the Mickey one he got while we were there, too. Thank Heaven for small miracles!......

Your DD will come to her senses sooner of later! ;)

I had My mickey Polo on today. DD13 wore her 2 Tink jackets ( It was chilly) to school and DW had an Eeyore hoodie on when they just left the house.
I'm also sitting in my PotC PJs right now as well.

But just look at her TINK ROOM in my Sig and see I have nothing to worry about the magic dying once we get home from our trips.

My dd10 and in the 5th grade LOVES Disney ,just like me , but would not wear Disney shirts etc. to school. She wore them when were we at Disney ...but that's it. It's so sad now when we walk into our local Disney Store at the mall....she likes to look around at all the items ,but anytime I ask her if she's interested in buying something for herself to wear she says NO ! Can't wait till our next WDW trip ,when I know she'll definitely were something Disney. ::MinnieMo

I just viewed your DD room from your sig...it's adorable ...my dd could actually go for something like that herself...she likes Tinkerbell (her room is painted lavender). Like the curtain idea for the closet...great idea, easier to get in & out of a small closet like that! Still, unfortuneately she won't wear Disney clothing :sad2:

Thanks we will be or I should say she will be adding to it in about 10 days or so.
