I need a travelling Easter Basket idea

Hello! We will either be in Florida, driving to Florida, or just about to leave for Florida on Easter morning. I am looking for cute ideas for what to use for Easter baskets that could somehow be "multi-purpose". I did think about draw-string bags, but am not loving the idea.

I really don't want to have to store 3 Easter baskets for the drive if in fact we are en route during Easter.

My children are 16dd; 15ds and 9ds

Honestly, I would just use a gift bag. You can store them flat, bag up items and store in a ziplock with some tissue paper until you need to assemble them. Go to a place like Dollar Tree.

In the past, if we were in a hotel room on Easter Sunday and traveling home, I'd hide some eggs on the hotel room and the Easter Bunny would make a special trip to our house Sunday night and we'd find baskets Monday morning.

On the occasions when we wouldn't be going home right away, I bought little felt bags from the Target dollar spot and filled those. They're small and cheap and I didn't feel guilty throwing them away after.

We've traveled on Easter many times and I have done it different ways. I have used gift bags, I've drug the Easter baskets with us, I've had the Easter Bunny come early, and late. The bunny has hid eggs in the hotel room, but not usually.

One lesson I learned early....hollow chocolate bunnies and heat do not mix Our kids were little and of course, still big believers. We went to San Antonio, and went to Sea World before checking in to the hotel that night. We got the kids tucked in bed and DH returned to the car to get the baskets. The chocolate had completely melted...it was just a big smear, no rabbit shape at all. So DH went out in search of chocolate bunnies...it was late, and he fouind a Wal Green open, but no chocolate bunnies left! He ended up getting huge chocolate bars instead, which was fine.

If they all are non-believers...I might give them all a new wallet/purse, with a gift card to spend at your destination....and have a bag of Easter Candy to share.

I bought my daughter a collapsible utility bin from 31. It but folds flat when not in use. You just pull it up to use it and it's about the size of a small wastepaper basket. We use in for car trips to store her travel games/books, etc..

I think there are other types of collapsible baskets available at regular stores, too. I've seen the nylon/canvas with handle baskets at TJ Maxx.

I just took a bag of easter grass and a bunny each and a bag of Hershey foil eggs and left a clump of grass on the nightstand next to them and a very small bunny and a few eggs and a note that their baskets were left at home for them to find when they got back.

Grass was thrown away very small bunnies and eggs were eaten during the week and baskets were found when we got home.

I think drawstring bags are a good idea. I would include a Disney gift card even if it's a small amount. If you usually do a larger basket, you could include things they'll need at WDW like sunscreen, sunglasses, and new beach towels.

We always carry our baskets when travelling over Easter. They don't take up that much more room in the car. I buy candy and DVDs (our go-to basket item) and put those in my luggage to keep secret.

We have Easter themed plastic buckets that we use for egg hunts (they were only $1-$2 and are similar to a gallon ice cream container). We take them with us instead of the baskets. They nest inside each other so they take up less space. I put their goodies in a cellophane bag tied with ribbon so I don't have to deal with grass or filler.

You know, we used collapsible bins to keep our stuff organized in our rooms. The bins a PP posted could work well for that.

We were in WDW last Easter, staying at AKV. The resort's gift shop had baskets w/grass for sale. I had brought some little things from home and I bought some more while at WDW, then I assembled the baskets once the kids were in bed. We snuck the baskets out onto the balcony early in the AM and when the kids went out on the balcony to see the animals, they "found" their baskets.

It was a nice surprise for them because I told them the Easter Bunny would probably just stop by our house and leave something while we were gone - they weren't expecting anything at our resort.

Last year we were traveling on Easter and I made "baskets" for the two you ger DDs, in some cute Vera Bradley hipsters. I put a dvd, some candy and the like in them and set them out in the hotel room. We did hunt for eggs as we were visiting big brother at his home in the country.
