My dh is going on a buisness trip April 12 and can do dl with his coworkers that day before the sessions the next day. Does anyone have a strategy to help them do the most they can in one day. They will arrive for ropedrop, take an afternoon break and back until midnight.
Thanks,
Alicia

Here's my suggestions (though I don't know exactly what they want to ride):

-Arrive at the park early (30-45 because it's a busy time) and grab a Space Mountain FastPass right away
-Tour the rest of Tomorrowland (Buzz, Star Tours) and also ride Matterhorn
-Cross over and grab an Indiana Jones FP
-Hit Jungle Cruise, Pirates, and Haunted Mansion.
-If you can, grab a Big Thunder or Splash FP on your way out
-Afternoon break
-Come back and grab an Indy or Space FP
-Hit Space, Indy, and your other FP ride from before the break
-See some entertainment (fireworks, Fantasmic) or keep riding other rides
-Finish your day with the FP obtained immediately after returning.

I'm not sure if that will work, but the basic ideas are:
-Arrive early
-Never be w/o a set of FPs
-Be flexible

Tell them to remember that their fast pass will not expire! They can have a FP with a return time of 12-1 and go back at 9 pm and they can use it. As long as you are past the first number (ie it would be 12 in my example) they are fine. Many times we spend the day grabbing FP's and then at 10 we start hitting all the FP rides and have little to no wait time.

All of the above is good info Alicia. I have a couple of questions.

- What day will they be at DLR? (Friday or Saturday?)
- Will they want to see (do a few rides) at DCA, which is 125 yards away? (Soarin, ToT, Screamin, Griz etc. are all great).
- Will they want to avoid FantasyLand altogether? (I'm 51...& a male..& i love SM, Indy & Screamin'...but i would never miss Toadie, Alice, Pinocchio & if no line...PP.)

I bet they're really bummed that IASW is down for refurb though. :rolleyes1
:lmao:

They may want to go DCA for at least a few headliners (Soarin', TOT, California Screamin', maybe Grizzly River Run) and have a beer together on the pier, a.k.a. their "afternoon break".:thumbsup2

Thanks for the replies. In response to your questions, they will be there Saturday, April 12th, they are not going to go to California Adventure. We will be in WDW the week (poor thing...having to g to two Disney's in 3 weeks time! ;) )before so my dh will do soarin there and the others have done it before. They do want to do the biggies, sm, spash, Indy, etc, but one has never been to a Disney park and wants to see a few fantasy land things. They have ressies at Blue Bayou at 6:20 that night, but will not have early entry.
We have tour guide Mike for our WDW vacation so have some idea on maximizing fastpasses, but get stuck when trying to balance this park as we are not familure with it.

Five guys is going to be hard to have a really set itinerary / plan in most cases. Kinda like ordering pizza for a group, everything seems cool and then one person creates chaos because it turns out they hate pepperoni!

Good advice here, use it but don't over-think it. Part of the fun is just going for it! As long as you are good about acquiring FPs throughout the day and don't get stuck in any 90 minute lines you will have a great time.

I don't agree. Me & most (male) adults i hang with would go crazy w/o a plan (doing just about anything). I like to at least map out the first 2-3 hours at DL...when effiecient touring reaps benefits. Look at it like a NFL coach who has the first drive's plays already planned out. Then relax & start free-wheeling it.

I really need to subscribe to RideMax to see how my thoughts compare...it would be fun to see. But given your parameters (& given that i'm a touring geek)... i'll offer an opinion, my plan would be similar to DLR's...with some wrinkles:

Here is DLR's:

-Arrive at the park early (30-45 because it's a busy time) and grab a Space Mountain FastPass right away
-Tour the rest of Tomorrowland (Buzz, Star Tours) and also ride Matterhorn
-Cross over and grab an Indiana Jones FP
-Hit Jungle Cruise, Pirates, and Haunted Mansion.

I'm not sure if that will work, but the basic ideas are:
-Arrive early
-Never be w/o a set of FPs
-Be flexible

And here is mine:

- Arrive at GATE 40 minutes early (with McBreakfasts).
- Pick up a FP at SM
- Ride SM
- Matterhorn (both sides)
- Alice (yes Alice, dang it.) Have camera ready for 3 big dudes in the caterpiller. :lmao:
- Toadie
- Buzz (ride twice if no line)
- Pick up a FP at Indy
- Jungle Cruise
- Pirates
- HM
- Pick up a FP at Splash.

Breath. Relax. Eat. (you got 3 FPs in your pocket)

- Check out BTMRR (for line or for when you should return for FP pickup)
- Do fill in rides (Star Tours, Pinocchio, Tiki Room, Roger Rabbit - if RR is crowded pick up a non-connected FP for later) or hang out.
- Pick up a FP for BTMRR (if you didn't ride) or go ride Indy & pick up another FP for Indy (or Buzz) for later, if you did.

Lunch/Break/Nap/Scratch/Grunt/Belly Flop in pool ....... you know, stuff that 5 dudes do.

Return to park late afternoon with 4-5 FPs in your pocket. It will be packed on an April Sat. & they'll be glad they have them.

Tell them to say hi to Toadie for me. :hippie:

NFL coaching as an analogy? You do take your planning very seriously! To each their own, do what makes you happy. If i broke out a whole days itinerary with a group of guys for a day at Disneyland I don't think I would ever hear the end of it!
