My family has this weird thing we do regarding the possum on big thunder mountain. My Dh and I are trying to find a possum. Believe it or not, they are hard to come by ;)
Where do you recommend looking for one????

I saw 2 in the middle of the road this morning (they weren't exactly alive though).

Are those possums that hang from the trees in Splash Mountain? If so we have a "thing" for them too. :p
They are the CUTEST little buggers aren't they?

I used to sell these wonderful stuffed toys in my store. They were very life-like to the point where if you set one of the rabbits in the yard people would think they were real......I'll see if I can find out if the company is still in business.

Another company I sold toys from that MIGHT have a life-like possum is called Charleen Kinser Designs but they're tremendously expensive.

Or *gulp* as EsmereldaX wonders, are you looking for a live one?

I'm assuming for a moment that you mean a toy one, like a plush toy? I'm also assuming you mean an oppossum, like the ones in the Southern USA, not an Autrailian possum?

If you were looking for a live opossum, you would most likely have to contact the wildlife dept. of your town to see what sort of permits were required to keep one. I know NH has very lenient laws for having exotic pets, but you may need to apply for a permit and find a breeder in another state.

A possum for a pet??:faint:

They have a very nasty temperament - and are carriers of rabies.....

I think the OP just wants some toys and an ornament!:D

This little guy was hanging out in my aunt's back yard:

I can't even begin to describe how foul they smell. Very skunky.

Actually, I've handled orphaned opossums (and ditched exotic pets that people gave up) before, and they are very sweet little animals.

They can carry rabies, like any warm blooded mammal can, but it's not a particularly common carrier of rabies in the USA.

Whether the OP meant a live animal or not, there are a lot f people out there who think it's cool to have a wild animal as a pet. It's not, no matter how sweet they are as orphaned babies.

Wild animals belong in the wild.

I think she's just looking for plush toys too, but I used to work in the pet industry and the illegal exotic pet trade in this country is actually kind of scary...

in my backyard i have a family of them living under my garage and my dog chases them at night, shes already got 4 so far.

they make a real tasty stew too........................

hey what can i say i is from arkansaw ya know:)

couldnt resist,

Ugh! I'm not terribly fond of possums. Two or three of them liked to come up on my porch this summer at night and raid the bag of cat food that I kept there. The hiss and make threatening noises if you startle them and they scared my dd to death one night. They finally moved on after I started storing the cat food somewhere else.
