My guide has left. I am currently unassigned and I suppose that when I call I'll then be assigned to whoever answers my question. This will be my third guide. I realize that I only have 350 points, however, I'd like to get a knowledgeable person with experience.

There are so many changes happening with new resorts, banking rules I really would like to get an experienced person. If the Contemporary becomes reality I'd love to be able to contact my guide directly or be contacted by them since I live in a state where we can't do paperwork by mail.

Is there a web page showing the different guides giving years of experience, amount of points sold and number of clients served? The real estate section of my local paper gives this information.

If this isn't available can you give us suggestions for a guide?

I'll be there the 1st part of December and would like to introduce myself to my new guide.

Thanks for your help.

Randy

Patti Douglas has been our guide since 1997 and I think she is a senior guide. Experienced and knowledgeable.

I have had Larissa Prendergast since I got my VWL and she's done nothing for me...literally. Actually that's not true...I've gotten sales material with her name on it.

We have Gib McCain and he has been with DVC forever. He always returns phone calls promptly, is very knowledgeable and extremely personable. I can recommend him with confidence.

Is this a common thing to go through that many guides???? We are thinking or joining so I don't know much about this kind of thing.:)

If you live in a state (Nebraska, perhaps?) where you can't "do paperwork by mail", then the Guides really can't speak to you over the phone either. If they aren't registered to sell in your state, they can't discuss any sales-related issues over the phone.

I don't see 2 guides leaving in a 4-year period as cause for concern. People change jobs. :confused3

"Guides" are salespeople, pure and simple. I wouldn't expect the average member to have any more contact with their Guide than they do the person who sold them their last car or house. While some people have developed friendships with their Guides over the years, 99% of us simply call when we need more points.

Operational questions (program rules, points management, etc) should go to Member Services. Guides exist to sell.

Thank you:)

I totally agree that the guides are salespeople. But I am in sales and really good salespeople give good cutomer service evern after the sale. We've had three guides since 1997. And I have to admit they have all been responsive to us. But our second guide would leave messages in our room on every trip we took. She would welcome us home and ask if we would like to come by to catch up and learn whats new. Towards the end of our stay she would try to touch base to ask how things were going. We did three add-ons that we may not have done without her great service. After a sale she would always send us a nice gift. She even contacted us when she was leaving DVC and thanked us for being such great members. Most salespeople know that your best sales come from word of mouth and repeat business.

:lmao: :rotfl2: Since I bought resale, my guide hasn't called me back once!

Ron Brumbaugh - efficient, knowledgeable, friendly - has been with DVC from the beginning!!

I had problems with her as well as someone else that I am aware of. She treats you terrible and does not always give you the correct information. Luckily I had another guide from our original purchase and I was able to speak to him about her and he took care of me. I got an email from someone else on the boards who was treated as badly as I was when inquiring about a new contract.

A vote for Jim McCoy. Jim has been with DVC a long time. He is also a DVC member. I took almost 2 yrs to decided whether or not to buy DVC. He always promptly returned my calls and answered any questions. The same has been true since we purchased. I would highly recommend him. He is really patient too.

We also have Patti Douglas as our guide. She's always been super friendly and helpful and answered the TON of questions I had when we were finally ready to buy in. I'd definitely recommend her.

Have to chime in with all the Gib McCain fans -- he is fantastic and has been with Disney for a very long time. He never gets tired of my phone calls asking about incentives, add ons, future projects, etc. and always calls me right back. He's great.

Gib is our guy, too. I can't imagine that anyone else there is more fantastic. We have had three family members join up with him since we joined almost two years ago. He is prompt in returning calls. He is also very nice and has a great "no pressure" attitude. We highly recommend him!!!:cheer2:
