I need a hug and prayers for my Mom--update

NCBelle - I am 29 and had detached retinal surgery in both eyes when I was 24 and 25. Did she have a scleral buckle? I now have cataracts as a result of the surgery. I will pray for your mom and hope she has a speedy recovery. Mine was not fun at all and I was in law school at the time - so I had to learn to read with one eye OK and one eye blurry. I think back and don't remember even how I got through it. Especially since the first one was an "emergency" surgery and only 3 1/2 months before my wedding.

She did not need the buckle this time-last year, she had one for the other eye. She was glad that this one wasn't as bad. She has less complications in the present affected eye. She doesn't have to worry about working or housecleaning -both of my parents have been on early retirement since 1996. She just went a month ago to her regular eye doctor and had a clean bill of health and almost was changed to going once a year. She does not drive---I can't remember her driving after I got my license back in 1990. Her main problem is her extreme nearsightness has her retina almost too thin.
