I need a great chocolate recipe for Thanksgiving!

Recipe is for one pie, but I usually make two at a time and just split the cream cheese between the two. This pie is always a hit; it keeps forever in the freezer and can be made ahead of time. Double the recipe if you want to use a 13x9 pan.

4 oz. bar German sweet chocolate
1/3 cup milk
2 Tbl. sugar
3 oz. cream cheese
8 oz. Cool Whip
9" crumb crust

Melt chocolate with 2 Tbl. of the milk (can be done in the microwave.)
Beat sugar and cream cheese, add remaining milk, then the chocolate mix.
Fold in Cool Whip. Pour into crust. Freeze at least four hours. Garnish with Cool Whip and chocolate curls. Let stand one hour at room temperature before serving.

My DD has to take something Austrian to school a couple weeks after Thanksgiving, and she's tentatively picked sachertorte. We'll be making a trial version for Thanksgiving. Chocolate cake, apricot jam, shiny chocolate icing and mounds of whipped cream - what's not to like?

This is my go-to dessert for parties...it is super moist, and has an awesome chocolatey flavor without being too heavy. Also it is super easy to make! A friend of mine gave me the recipe a couple of years ago.

KAHLUA CAKE

Cake:

1 box yellow cake mix
1 package (3.9 ounces) instant chocolate pudding
1/2 cup sugar
1 cup vegetable oil
4 large eggs
1/4 cup Kahlua
1/4 cup vodka
3/4 cup water

Glaze:

1/4 cup Kahlua
1/2 cup confectioner's sugar (plus additional for serving)

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.

Butter and flour a ten-inch Bundt pan.

In a large bowl using an electric mixer, combine all the ingredients listed under "cake" and beat for about 2 minutes, until smooth. Pour the batter into the prepared Bundt pan and bake until a toothpick inserted in the middle comes out clean, approximately 55 minutes.

Invert the cake onto a serving plate.

To make the glaze recipe: While the cake is baking, in a small bowl, whisk together the Kahlua and confectioner's sugar until smooth. Pour the glaze over the warm cake and let cool completely. Dust with confectioner's sugar, slice into wedges, and serve.

that sounds yummy. The vodka sounds good too.

I'm making two of these for Thanksgiving. The kids would be disappointed if I didn't.

truffles are the easiest.
I make mine with Oreos.
Also, if you buy the peppermint or mint oreos, it gives it an extra treat.

German Chocolate Pie - this sounds very good and diabetic friendly - can you tell me do you find the 4 oz. bar German sweet chocolate in the baking aisle (sorry, not a baker). I have seen the bars of cooking chocokate is that the same thing?? Thanks

I make a self-saucing chocolate cake that my grand kids really love. It's really easy, and after it bakes you have a cake on top and a chocolate sauce on the bottom. You scoop out cake and sauce to serve it and it's delicious.

It is with the baking chocolate, but you have to specifically get the sweet chocolate.
