I wasn't planning to chaperone this year's cheer trip, but now it seems like they are short on chaperones who know Disney and I feel like I need to go. The value resorts are all booked up. I am looking for a decent but inexpensive hotel as close as possible to All Star Sports and the Wide World of Sports complex. I will be renting a car.

Any ideas?

I would post this on the Orlando Hotel board for help.

I am guessing the values will have last minute cancellations tho.

herc.

Thanks. I haven't been on this board in ages and didn't remember that there was an Orlando Hotel board.

You will want to look for hotels in the Maingate West area (most of the hotels are clustered along 192). Many of these are what I would consider very inexpensive. Not sure your exact dates, but just a quick search of hotels Expedia considers Maingate West returns some 61 results. You can use that to get an idea of what is in the area, but I would check other sites to see rates, as you can generally get a hotel less through another booking site (or even the hotel direct) with coupon codes found online.

There is one called the Maingate Lakeside Resort (used to be the Best Western Lakeside). We stayed there for one night (when it was BW) before moving onsite about 3 years ago at Thanksgiving (when we couldn't get all of the nights we wanted thru WDW). Recent reviews I see look like it is indicating it is run down, however it was decent for the price when we stayed there.

The hotels on 192 seem a little run down.

We stayed at SunLake Resort off 192 for cheer competitions. I booked through bookit.com for about $65 night for a two bedroom condo. Mystic Dunes isn't far from WWof Sports either. Its located off of 192 next to Windsor Hills.

Good luck!:cheer2:

I was able to get Pop Century for the first two nights. I'll keep checking for cancellations for the last two nights. I have Disney Visa dollars to spend, so I can us some of them for Pop.

When you are calling Disney reservations, are you telling them this is for a competition at Wide World of Sports? Usually they have a negotiated rate and then if they can't get you into one of the values, they will overflow into other hotels. I know our team was quoted a rate somewhere in the neighborhood of $60/night for a value during our tournament.

Call Seralago...they are doing a great deal if you call in today for Friday the 13th to make a ressie. I don't know what your dates are but mine didn't fit within the date however she still gave me an awesome rate..we stay there all the time and there is always cheer groups there...

I was able to add the third night to Pop Century. Yay!:cheer2:
