While I was doing some royal geneaology research online I came across some shocking and sad news. Major Ronald Ferguson died on my birthday. You would think that an American newspaper would cover something like this.

RIP

Well I must be out of the loop as well then coz I had no idea either and I live in this county - was this recent? It could have been reported whilst I was on holiday but I thought I'd got up to speed on all the "news" when I got back.

That said I wouldn't have said he was that popular a figure in the UK just MHO.

Well...to be honest, Major Ron Ferguson didn't rank too highly in the Royal pecking order - especially since Fergie divorced Andrew atleast. I only heard about it via the US CB

I just imagine that the US media was slightly more concerned with the current casualties of war than a not so newsworthy 'has been' dying of old age.

It just happened the other day Sam.

Thanks Penny - to be honest the only news I've been watching just has the war going on - I wouldn't know if there was any other news happening, but I'm sure there is.

This news was reported on the BBC and on Sky News, on the day the Major passed away, it was in the following days newspapers and the funeral was reported on too.

It hasn't been mentioned that much due to the extensive war coverage.
But there were pictures in the press of Sarah Ferguson and eldest daughter Beatrice attending the funeral.
