But when and why did they take the MGM out of "Disney/MGM Studios"??

We just got our new trip planning DVD from Disney in the mail today, and I noticed that the MGM part is dropped. We were there last June and it was still Disney MGM....

Can anyone enlighten me??

It has something to do with their agreement with MGM - they're not allowed to use MGM in their marketing materials anymore (maybe someone else has more details).

The park is still called Disney-MGM Studios.

Disney and MGM had a contract - partnership for x number of years, which will expire very soon.

WDW are currently trying to change all Disney Mgm Studios naming , to simply 'Disney Studios'.

I don't think that is necessary why the it is not used in the promotional video. MGM has been left out of the video for years.

Maybe not!!, but this transition is definatly in process

The whole mgm/disney studios thing has been going on since at least 1996. Over easter week, the buses from POFQ still said mgm studios. I actually bought a shirt in 96 or 97 that just says: disney studios on it....then a couple years later they were all back to disney/mgm again...who knows?
