I miss you DCL...

My wife and I along with another couple are supposed to be sailing on the Wonder, April 2021.
To say it would be a big disappointment if it's cancelled by DCL, is an huge understatement.
We already cancelled a California trip that was scheduled for April this year and a Christmas vacation on South Padre Island with my wife's family as well.

Let's hope that the cruise industry has things figures out soon!!!!

Ugh, missing it soooooo much. I already told my husband be prepared for me to ugly cry when they announce our name the first time we can board again  Even he has admitted to missing cruising (which means a lot since he's usually "omg did you book another one?") lol

I don't miss DCL nearly as much as I thought I would. It's a weird feeling.
I agree and it is weird. I think it's the adapt and overcome instinct that all animals have. I know that sounds weird, but I've adjusted to my past life of cruising two to three times of year to other vacations and projects. I miss cruising, but I feel like some new doors have been opened.

I miss it too and it is really hard not being able to get on board right now. A few months back I thought perhaps May would be a good option but it's looking like that won't be happening. So I'm beginning to look at cruises in the Fall...fingers crossed but nothing locked in just yet. DCL still has my money so that's a good and bad thing at this point...:rotfl2:

At this point I need a vacation... Cruise, land, anything...
I know what you mean. We're being told no Christmas parties, not to travel to be with family for Christmas, and my state has a nighttime curfew (10:00 - I had more freedom in high school). At least WDW is kind of open.

We spent a lot of time at the beach (Isle of Palms, SC) over the summer, and may try to go back in January. Also, after it warms up, we may head out west to some of the National Parks.

I'd be tearing up to see them in person too.
Our March 2020 cruise was cancelled. Then our Feb 2021 cruise was cancelled. Chance are good that our May 2021 cruise will be cancelled. It's been 15 months since our last Disney cruise. That is a crazy long time for us.

I think the frustration we feel is the lack of control. If we chose to not cruise for 15 months, at least it would be our own decision. To be told we can't cruise and that we don't know how long it will be until cruising resumes, that is what makes it difficult.
At least when there's a dry dock, it's only 1 ship and there's a defined period. We know when it will end before it even starts. There are still other options for sailing. With this situation, we have no options except to wait for some unknown length of time.

I always try to look on the bright side of things and, for us right now, is that without the ability to vacation, we are saving a LOT of money. We're paying off our mortgage at warp speed. While that keeps me motivated to watch the numbers drop, I know I will drop it like a hot potato when we can finally sail again. I might even do a B2B just to not have to pack on the last night while others put their luggage outside their door. That's always a nice feeling.

That's also the silver lining for us. Between our cancelled cruises, cancelled trip to Aulani and a couple of other vacations we were planning but now won't book, we've saved over $50k.

:thumbsup2

We’ve plunked 30k on our mortgage since August, saving us thousands in interest. Nothing else in our former lives has redirected us like this.

I feel the same as you. The frustration, the unknowns, the overall climate of uncertainty.
We also saved tons of $...probably close to 6-figure . That's always nice.
We travel lots around the world, cruise, invite family to see us, etc.. I'd rather have spent that $ and not having had the world endure this horrible virus. With this pandemic I came to appreciate life more and realized it is indeed short.
I can't wait to go back to cruising.
