I miss the old Community Board

Good idea. I like that better. :)

Oh, and if anyone is interested, Professor Horace Slughorn will be interviewing Ron Weasley tonight on Meet the Press to discuss Harry's healthcare reform for Hogwarts.

OMG you're hilarious!:lmao:

Uh oh, you know people are going to say the CB is for talking about things other than Disney, don't you?
Yeah. We're supposed to be discussing if you need that surgery... or if your dog/cat really needs to go to the vet... or if you should ditch that guy who (from ONLY your side of the story) did what you said he did... :lmao::happytv::rotfl2:
But all kidding aside, I like the changes. I sure don't miss all those giant political billboard signatures. They took half the bandwidth of the page.
When you reloaded the food porn thread it took 1/3rd longer because you had to wait for all the food pictures to load, AND all the pictures of every political figure running for office.. I will certainly say I didn't feel as welcome here during the last days of the election. Only 46% of the crowd wanted me here!!!:lmao::lmao::lmao:

Oh great, and after I had made this re-election poster for my signature in 2012.:confused3

Okay guys, here's the deal. We are going to bring politcal threads back to the Community Board, but without the Mods discovering what we are doing. Here's how we're going to pull this off. We'll disguise names of key politcal figures to that of characters from Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince.

For example:
President Obama.............Harry Potter
Dick Cheney...................Professor Albus Dumbledore
Hillary Clinton.................Ginny Weasley
V.P. Joe Biden................Fenrir Greyback
Sarah Palin....................Hermione Granger
Rush Limbaugh...............Professor Severus Snape
....and so on and so forth.....

Until then, I say it's foolproof! Anyone with me?

LOL, this is quite funny...cept, I haven't seen Harry Potter, so all these names mean nonsense to me....

Can we give them Twilight names for those non Harry Potter viewers? :cool2:

Yup I miss the debate board here. Lots of great posters with great ideas. And YES sometimes things got heated...But hey thats life. Lots of Laughs too, if not more of them. I dont post much anymore either.

Ironically, the DIS did have one of the best DEBATE boards around, since no one originally came here due to their political/religious beliefs. It made for a REAL mix of MANY ideas & MANY people ..etc. Most other debate boards are slanted to one side or the other, and dont get the "traffic" like here. So the "go somewhere else" theory is not really very useful or helpful.

I always thought if you cant stand the Heat then.....Get out of the Kitchen. But the powers at be decided to ditch it, instead of seeing it for the powerful forum it really was. It would have been nice, if they password protected the forums, and not moderate them. Whatever it was their call their boards.

I STILL think the Budget Board is WAY MORE scary than the Debate boards ever were.:lmao:

Earlier I had mentioned that the original poster had 98 of the last 100 posts to the Community Board. A few people challanged me on why did I look that up.

Anybody can click on a person's name and see links to their last several hundred posts. I am clearly not doing anything wrong; if the webmasters did not want to give all members access to this information they could set certain switches so that nobody, or only webmasters and/or moderators could see that information.

I stand by my opinion that a person who only posts to the Community Board is not really a member of the DisBoards Community. Another quick check shows that there are over 100 forums and subforums. Again, in my opinion I feel that a person should participate in several forums that discuss Disney and not the one main forum that generally does not discuss anything Disney.

And just for kicks, I looked myself up on the Post Search and found that my last 100 posts were spead out to seven forums with only 11 to CB. And there are at least four others I generally check but have not had posts to within my last 100 posts.

You're allowed to do this, obviously, but in my opinion it's a little creepy. Don't bother looking me up, I only post here and not very often, so I'm not a true member of the community anyway. I found this board after my last trip to Disney and enjoyed the immediate reaction to current events that I got here, political and otherwise. I don't go on the other Disney boards because I don't have a trip in the works and that makes me sad. I enjoy hearing opinions even if I don't agree with them, just as it was interesting to me that you feel the way that you do about how people should post, and I miss that aspect of the community board. I'm glad I'm not the only one. Thanks for the discussion, everyone. I've enjoyed it.

To the person with the Harry Potter idea, I had a good laugh over that one! Thanks!

I miss the debate board, though my wife doesn't. I was always on the debate board, and loved the play with all of the usual suspects over there. Interestingly, my favorite people were those that I disagreed with. I loved to see a post by Ripleysmom or Flkhou because I knew going in, I was going to be hearing a new perspective on each topic (naturally, they were always wrong, and I was quick to point that out ;)). There must have been some ugliness that I didn't see, because Webmaster Alex was a regular on the board as well, and I can't imagine he wanted to shut down one of his (apparently) favorite boards. Still, I hate that it had to go. It was the best debate board I ever saw on the web, partly because it was made up of people who didn't come out looking for a fight.

I find that truly sad.

I consider myself a member here and I post mainly on the CB. I found a wonderful group of friends here whose thread I mostly post on. Many of our conversations have to do with what is happening in WDW. Favorite places to eat, favorite rides, what to skip, etc. Yep, we also talk about our real lives but that make us less of a Dis'er than someone who only posts on the Theme Park or Resort Board? We all came together because we love WDW. Why should it matter what actual "board" we post on?

As to the OP, I miss what was. Not only with the bannings of the political/religious threads. Lots of things have changed in the little bit of time I have been here. Many posters have been kicked off of here and they shouldn't have been. They all added to sanity around here and now they are gone.

That'll be fine. Or Lord of the Rings for folks unfamiliar with Potter & Twilight. :wizard:

That's the risk one takes when they become attached to a hundred posters when there are thousands more to interact with who are still here. Sort of like putting all your eggs in one basket. And don't worry, many of those posters are still here under different names.

OT
Just saying hi to a fellow Georgian... we almost named our son Grayson, we don't live to far :)

Uh,oh... guess I'm not "really" a member of the DisBoards community.... I post mainly on the community board, some on the budget boards... when I am actively planning a trip, you will find me on resorts/theme parks, etc... but none are planned for anytime soon.

It is my understanding that DisBoards is primarily for discussion of various aspects of Disney, and that the Community Board is designed for those itejms which do not apply specifically to any other forum.

It is my opinion that a person who only posts to the Community Board is not really a member of the Disney Community and should probably be on a Social Networking or othe board. For example, I am very active on at least nine other forums, and my posts here are fewer than five percent of my total posts.

It is my opinion that if you love anything Disney, you are a member of the Disney Community. Why does it matter where you post? I read a lot of threads that I don't have a need to post on. I only came to the CB because a thread I was posting on was moved here. I had never even looked down here before that.

now isn't THIS what we are missing!!! some good debate topics! Lets debate who in here are TRUE members of the disney community and who has the right to judge that!

Start that thread and see what happens...

Excuse me---I have to go post on the bump thread. It's one of my favorites.

Oh and for the OP. I just noticed two new threads on the CB. One is a vent that Victoria's Secret underwear is no longer 100% cotton, the other is asking advice on toenail removal. So, um, who are we to say that things around here have gotten boring since politics left the scene? ;) :surfweb:

But 100% cotton is important to some people!

The Community Board should now be titled the "Medical Advice Board."

No, it should be titled the "Panty Advice Board".
I mean, the "Problems with In-Laws Board".
I mean, the "My Daughter's Boyfriend Troubles Board".
I mean, the "Which Car Should I Buy Board".
I mean, the "Pittbulls are Evil Board".
I mean, the "Prayers Needed Board".
I mean, "Look at my New Grandbaby Board".

:laughing:There are FAR more of those than medical threads.
And I love'em all.:thumbsup2

I just laughed when I read your post. The reason being I was just reading the toenail removal post. I don't even know why??? I missed the Victoria's Secret thread.
