I miss the old Community Board

I agree, Tomader.

Once upon a time, there used to be a poster (EROS) who decried the excess of FLUFF on this board. I for one, agreed. I like to be challenged, to think, to use my brain, to consider points of view that may be different than my own.

Now, we are all just "happy-nice".

And booooooooooooooooring.

No, it should be titled the "Panty Advice Board".
:lmao: Thanks. I nearly shot Coke Zero out my left nostril when reading that. lol :rotfl:
I wonder if it's unhealthy to spew carbonated beverage out one's nose? Perhaps I'll start a "need-advice" thread on the subject. ;)

I mean, the "Problems with In-Laws Board".
I mean, the "My Daughter's Boyfriend Troubles Board".
I mean, the "Which Car Should I Buy Board".
I mean, the "Pittbulls are Evil Board".
I mean, the "Prayers Needed Board".
I mean, "Look at my New Grandbaby Board".
And we've got two new ones: "Please help- cat munching on toxic plant".
And then there's the thread on Refrigerator/Freezer doors. (Please don't tell me the ending to that one, I want to read if for myself!) :surfweb:

Please don't get me wrong. We're not mocking the posters of these topics. The CB is a free board for any topic/advice to be discussed. But the nation is facing the biggest healthcare overhaul in history, and we're complaining about what materials our undergarments are made of. (???) Yeah, exactly. I'm sure there's a (friendly) way to bring back the important issues at hand...and yes, if it's political, so be it. (I'm still all for the Harry Potter idea if anyone's with me on that).

I miss the debate threads. If I found them to be too aggressive or out of hand, I just stopped reading. If I wasn't in the mood, I didn't open those threads at all. When I was up for it, they made for an interesting discussion.

We have to admit some of these posts are hilarious. You can't make this stuff up. I never stopped and thought about how funny some of these topics really are. Who would post about cracks between their toes??? I'm glad we have allowed this thread to keep going. It's given me a good laugh.

Is it possible to be challenged, to think, to use your brain and to consider points of view during discussions and be nice about it?

Seriously, you've been missing some heated threads lately of you think everyone is happynice and boring.

It was an informative thread!! And I'd rather discuss undergarments than healthcare any day, especially when Victoria's Secret has betrayed it's loyal customers like me! A pox on them!

You named the "one who must not be named".... 20 lashes

I really miss the old debate threads, I enjoyed the converstaions I've had with all sorts of people. I rarely post in the CB anymore, because the threads are so completely mindless that their not even worth reading. I pretty much stick to the trip planning boards now, which is what brought me here in the first place.

That's the risk one takes when they become attached to a hundred posters when there are thousands more to interact with who are still here. Sort of like putting all your eggs in one basket. And don't worry, many of those posters are still here under different names.

I got "attached" to them because many of them were posters here for a lot of years. But I never posted with them. I just found it interesting to read what they have to say.

And there are posters still here whose threads I actively look for. I look forward to what C.Ann has to post because her threads can be either fluff (in a good way) or thought provoking (but not enough to hurt my brain :rotfl:)

Do you really think things are "nice" around here now? I do see a lot of fluff posts and those are kept nice but I have been shocked at the nastiness in some of the most simple posts. I would much rather see those types of responses relegated to the religious and political threads instead of simple, everyday posts where people get their hackles up over essentially nothing.

You can't really do that anymore, either. I never posted on the political or religious threads, but I truly enjoyed telling people when I thought they were being really stupid, and you can't be argumentative or sarcastic on the dis anymore, so I am spending a lot of time deleting myself before I get censured.

It's ok, really, I spend way too much time procrastinating here on the dis when I should be working, I just miss getting to tell people that they were idiots.. I don't know if a button-pusher like me is ever truly reformed, but since I do also use the dis for planning I'm certainly making an effort.

lol...well if you want to be remembered as a button pusher, I dont remember that. LOL... I remember you looking beautiful in your wedding dress, like Cinderella.
but, DIS is GREAT for procrastinating, whether fluff or button pushing :upsidedow

Ah, yes - good old "you know who" . . .

50 points from Gryffindor!!

I also agree, very boring and mindless now. Altho since politics is such a HOT topic right now and never in my lifetime have I seen people so angry and feeling so strongly, including myself, that I can see some of their reasoning. There were a group of people with many many posts that just looked for things like that to jump into not having any real education on the topic and just looking to fight. I wish tho that those that don't like a thread just don't read it instead of knocking it. :thumbsup2.

I don't see Dawn posting much here. I always liked what she had to see. Smart lady.
