I miss NWA out of the Twin Cities

I've been pricing flights to MCO for Oct and there seems to be so many less options and they are soooo much more expensive since Delta has taken over. Anyone else having any luck!

I miss them too. We are over in the UP with always a connection through MSP...Delta is so much higher. :scared:

I understand! I wait until Airtan or Suncountry has a sale and then it seems Delta will lower their prices. I check kayak everyday, it is a great website. The amount of delta flights w/ a layover from MSP is annoying! This next trip I booked delta one way and airtran one way to save money and give them a try. Delta december rates are very high right now, waiting for additional airlines to release thier dates for the price to drop. Good luck Minnesotans!

I agree!!!!!!

We fly Airtran because SC and Delta are so expensive and we would have to go through ATL most likely anyway (with DL).

I really miss NWA.

I always flew NW out of Detroit. Since Delta's fares are so high, and I keep hearing bad things about their customer service, I'll probably fly AirTran when I can. I've had a good experience with them.

I found really good prices at Southwest for our October trip. It was right around $200 per person r/t. We have a connecting flight in Chicago on the way down and St. Louis on the way back, but for that price (and no baggage fees!) I couldn't pass it up!

I loved flying NW nonstop, but Delta's prices are outrageous!

I totally agree!! Are you looking at the week of MEA? We were planning for that week, but the airfare prices are crazy. We are thinking early November instead. I miss NWA :(

Out of DTW, the fares I am getting on Delta are about what I was getting out of NWA last year. As for service, frankly, I think Delta is an improvement. Their fleet seems a bit newer, they still have a little something to eat in-cabin, and their zoned boarding system seems to work better (and is enforced).

Realistically, everyone is paying more over the past year or two for airfare. Not so much because of consolidation (though that contributes) but because capacity has been cut across the board.

I'm still waiting for the week after Thanksgiving.

I'm hoping when Airtran and Sun Country come out with their schedules over that timeframe that prices will level off a bit.

I'm not expecting super low. But realitically, it would be nice if we could get it under $300 per person.

Right now, even with a connection, it's $338 per person on Delta for my dates. Puke.

I've had some luck with SWA lately (About $200/person RT & no bag fees) but found that their best prices out of MSP (HHH) are usually the first day they are offered. They go up from there. Keep an eye on them when they first open thier dates for your trip if you are willing to change planes in MDW and take a little longer to get there and back. I go Sun Country if non-stop is important for a trip. Better service and I think Delta is getting outrageous with their baggage fees.

Went week after THX last year and love that time of year, but weather is always a worry. Good luck!

we booked flight from MSP-MCO on Delta about a month ago when they had a seat sale - both flights are direct - for the 3 of us it was $645 CDN. I would just wait for a seat sale and then book. We are going from Sept 15-25th.

I hear you OP! I, too, have been checking airfares for late October (MEA week) and they have been terrible! I am in NW MN so my only choice is Delta. I sure hope fares drop from where they are. Right now it is over $600/person for us. Ouch!

Actually flying from Canada where we don't have access to Southwest or AirTran, Delta is one of the cheapest US carriers for us that have flights with flight times we like. Previous to the NW/Delta merger, we always flew NW and find that there really isn't much difference in prices from our previous trips, and the service is about the same.

We'd love to get the cheap fares you guys it the US have, but I guess we're stuck with our $400/per person seat sale fares for now.

A lot of frequent flyers miss Northwest too.

When carriers combine, higher fares are inevitable. What people still fail to realize is a profitable fare is much higher than tourists want to pay...probably (without looking at specifics including cargo, loads, fuel, weight, etc) over $400 r/t from MSP-MCO. By cutting capacity they are able to better cater to those who are able to pay profitable (or closer to profitable) fares.

I personally was never that impressed with Northwest. Their cabins were old and gross (even in First Class) and they had zero in flight entertainment. Their flight attendants and service in First Class was always quite good though. :)
