I miss DCL. Give me your memories

We've only been on one so far, second is supposed to be Christmas this year so who knows. First favorite: We'd just gotten on the ship and got our first ice cream cones. We turned to walk to a table and my daughter said "but Mom you have to pay." I smiled and said no I don't. Mind blown!

Second favorite: The character interactions were amazing, but the one that stands out with our princess is Captain Hook. She was giving him hell for being a sneaky snook. He tried to steal her tiara. We saw Captain Mickey after and she was telling him about Captain Hook being on his ship and showing Mickey where he was.

I miss Concierge prices being reasonable.
This. Our first two trips were Concierge, and we really enjoyed it. However, it has gotten completely outrageous! Even with our 40% discount from the WBPC, we looked at doing Concierge next summer and couldn't justify the up charge.

My favorite memory is from our first cruise. We were on the Dream, DD was 3, and Peter Pan ended up taking her on a big adventure all through the ship. They tried to steal gold from the princess murals, they joked around with Chip and Dale; it was just silly and completely unexpected. I have videos from the whole thing, and I just laugh every time I watch it.

I miss DCL too! Our 10th cruise was cancelled this past March. On one cruise I was taking an after dinner stroll on the Promenade deck when a door opened and a CM and Cinderella stepped out. She must of noticed my surprise and put your finger to her lips to Shush me, they then went into the next door to a large applause! Also miss coffee on the balcony, and the adult pool!

Same here. One of my really good friends is someone I met as a table mate on a Disney Cruise. Her son is the same Age as my daughter.
For me, it would have to be the friendships we have developed with our table mates. On our first Panama Canal cruise several years ago, we met a couple from Wales (we're from Nebraska) and have become good friends with them. They came to visit us and we went over over to see them in Wales a couple years ago.

We are also cruising again with another couple we met two years ago on next year's WBPC cruise, assuming it doesn't get cancelled.

One of my favorite cruises and memories would be our first transatlantic on the Magic in 2007. A little background, this was my 3rd DCL cruise, first non concierge sailing and first time sailing without my husband. Also like most on this board, I’m a planner ( borderline obssessive), book far in advance and pre-plan almost every detail.

Well this sailing was totally different. 2007 was DCL‘s inaugural Europe season. The WBTA was not selling well so Disney offered these Cat 12 GTYs for $999 pp for a 14 night cruise. Crazy cheap and I couldn’t pass it up. Last minute booking for just me and my eldest daughter who was 11 at the time. Even though, this meant she would miss the first week of 6th grade. I still did it. I have to add that our school district was awesome and basically set it up so that she was enrolled a week later so the days she missed were not considered absences. Anyway, with in a matter of weeks we were flying to Barcelona and boarding the Magic to bring her home.

I know it will sound a bit dramatic but this cruise perfect! Great ports of call Barcelona, Cadiz, Gibraltar, Canary Islands and Castaway Cay. We had fantastic weather the whole trip, the seas were like glass -no rocking and rolling. We were upgraded from the Cat 12 GTY Inside to an Oceanview on Deck 2, right down the hall from the Edge where my daughter spent a lot of time with her new friends. Even our table mates selected by Disney were a perfect match- 2 other moms traveling alone with kids like me. How perfect is that? It was a fun, relaxing and spontaneous adventure. The ship was not even close to being full so no difficulty finding pool loungers. Great activities, excursions and multiple Palo brunches because of the many sea days. The one on one time with my oldest was amazing as well. It also started my love of transatlantic sailings. I’ve done two others with DCL - 2013 EBTA with my 2 youngest daughters and 2014 EBTA with all 3 girls. Plus a few on other cruise lines.

There are so many things I love about all cruises, not just DCL. I’d have to say my favorite cruise of all time was our 8 night MDAS in October 2017. It was our first time on the Magic and completed our Grand Slam. Everything about the cruise was amazing, from sailing out of NYC, to docking at PC to spend a day at WDW was fantastic. We were even able to visit all 4 parks that day. Meeting all the Marvel characters and seeing the show on the pool deck was amazing. It really was the best cruise experience ever. 7FE9BE14-AC24-4134-8A9C-80D3999A4A3F.jpeg61A8C288-FE1B-475A-85B4-04542A964FF5.jpeg6F04D32F-27AA-49C1-BC48-308997AAB7B7.jpegEE7EFCDD-D245-4281-A13A-689ED75F0D43.jpeg

Having been on 6 cruises, It seems like it should be easy to narrow it down, but no. This question is so difficult but I will pick one.

Last April, we got to go on the 7 night Western Caribbean on the Fantasy. Overall, the sailing had its good and bad (mostly good). When we stopped in Cozumel, we went to a day resort with all you can drink and eat for 60 dollars. Had a phenomenal time and look forward to doing it again. We really enjoyed the "all you can drink" part of the resort (if you catch my drift). We got back to the ship about an hour before sail away and headed up to the rain forest room to relax for a few hours before dinner.

I'll never forget watching the island disappearing into the distance while sitting in the sauna and hot tub. We had the rainforest room essentially all to ourselves with only one couple in there. The water was calm, and the breeze was gentle and enjoyable. We saw dolphins jumping nearby the ship and flying fish jumping out of the water as well. One of the first times in years I have actually been able to truly relax.

I often find that sailing away is my favorite part of any cruise, no matter where we are leaving from.

Sailing solo on a WBTA, I joined with 13 other cruisers from this forum for our dining table. It was like a big family. We covered the age spectrum from 2 yo to retired. One couple was even from the community next to our town.

Palo brunches over the years, in the private dining room, with forum friends.

On the first cruise of a B2B, the chef at Palo came to speak with us. We started talking about lasagna and how I had some on previous cruise (it wasn’t on the menu at this point). He was proud to say it was his lasagna I had previously and asked what day I was coming back - and made lasagna that night. It wasn’t offered to others; what we didn’t eat was going to be enjoyed by the Palo staff.

Always Golden Mickeys.

Late night movies on Funnelvision, snacking on pizza, FREE coke, and soft serve ice cream, enjoying the ocean breeze and starlit sky (and amazing lack of people).

Eating the same thing for breakfast at Cabanas / Beach Blanket, including discovering the Muesli. Corned beef hash and link sausage.

Chateau Briand in Triton’s. Cuban salad in Carioca’s (and the decor). Truffle pursettes in AP. Filet mignon and chocolate souffle in Palo.

(Amazingly, I’m not a big fan of the food - but I do have my go-to favs).

Complimentary Palo meal as Platinum.

Towel animals.

The classic design of the ships. The Dale Chihuly chandelier in the atrium.

Clean language / topics comedians for adults.

Cast members in uniforms.

Disney Terminal at Port Canaveral.

(I recently tried Carnival; those last things really stood out to me).

Hearing Brent speed deliver his morning announcement. Laughing at Captain Thor’s extremely slow, rambling noon talk from the bridge.

Trivia.

Sitting on loungers on Deck 4, sailing through Tracy Arm in Alaska, on my 50th birthday.

Hearing someone call out a high school nickname (From Alabama) while in the security line at Vancouver.

Serenity Bay. Especially one time during low tide when I could walk out to the sandbar.

Taking my nieces on the only cruise line my sister would allow.

Having my niece go on a Disney cruise to Alaska (repeat) for her honeymoon.

Sailing again with friends you made on previous 509442

Another good one: Hearing the horn at sail away for the first time ever during sailaway. I know I sound like a nerd but it still gives me chills

Some of my favorites - we passed the Norwegian Sun once when I was on the Dream and had a horn battle. We of course trounced them since we had a much more talented horn. I was actually surprised they played.

Another Cruise we had a horn battle with the Magic, which was also pretty one sided. However one time on the Fantasy we passed the Dream at sea. Now THAT was a horn battle! Both captains treated us to a fun show.
