I met an American Idol finalist today...

...on an ELEVATOR!!

I was coming back from a doctor's appointment with my son when a girl who looks vaguely familiar gets on the elevator with another lady. She has her hair wrapped up but I see a BRIGHT PINK curl coming from under the wrap. I looked straight at her and said "American Idol?" She turned to me with that unbelievable smile and said happily "YEAH!!" My son, who's better at this than I am screamed "That's VANESSA!" The lady with her, I think she was her Mom, showed us huge button with her face on it on her jacket, VERY proudly and giddily. We ended up giggling and hugging right there on the elevator! Michael was a mess!

People got off the elevator with me asking "was that REALLY her???" It's amazing how popular that show is.

Another thing I noticed and I I HAD to tell her. In person she is TINY! My son was even shocked. He remembered how Simon told her to lose weight and how she shook her "fanny" at him. I told her "you're itty bitty!" She just crumbled thanking me as the elevator closed!

Michael is STILL wondering how she lost so much weight!

LOL, Beth, Michael STILL thinks Dan is the biggest celebrity he's ever met! You should see the look on his face when I tell him that Dan or WillyJ is on the phone!!

She was indeed a living doll. A honest, sincere, HAPPY little girl. I wish her the very best and KNOW she'll go far!

I wouldn't recognize anyone from that show because I don't watch. I'll bet Michael was really excited to meet her

Wow! I only watch that show on occassion, so I don't know her, but I think that is so cool that you and Michael met her!

What gets me is that the girl who WON last year was not particularly thin, she was a normal sized girl like this girl looks in person. I guess they're considering that extra ten pounds the camera gives you or maybe she HAS lost weight. Funny thing was, she looked HALF the size I saw on the TV
