Uh-oh...

We are headed to the Beach Club on 9/25 for a week, with the DDP. We booked within the 180-day window so I frantically had to make ADR's at that time. I checked on them today and OH NO...the Cape May Cafe character breakfast was nowhere to be found! :headache: Clearly I messed up in my hurry to book the ressies. I still have a princess breakfast booked at Epcot, but I really wanted a Goofy/Minnie/etc. experience for my DS3.

Of course I just checked the system to try to book it, and there is not a spot to be found for that week. Any advice? Should I check back every day in hopes of cancellation? Should I check once we get there? I had it on my calendar to do the breakfast the day after we arrive - just a relaxing fun intro to WDW right at our hotel. I feel terrible about this! :guilty: I'm hoping because it's not a busy time of year I might have a chance - but free dining will probably blow that hope out of the water...

Help!

try calling. who knows, maybe your reservation is there and just not showing up online. other than that, keep trying and check when you get there. things change all the time. GOOD LUCK!

Keep trying !!! I'm not kidding...... go online a few times during the day. I wanted to swap our Coral Reef lunch for dinner and there was nothing for dinner for a month. then all of a sudden, something opened up. You never know when someone's going to cancel a reservation, so it's good to keep logging on different times during the day. but I would say don't give up !!!! :grouphug: ( and try calling also.....) Good luck !!!

I would call them. It is not uncommon for an ADR to not show up (according to the note on thier website). You probably have the reservation. :)

For 9/25, if you booked at 180days they will not show up automatically in your "My Reservations" section. If you have the confirmation number, you can try to look them up by that and your phone number (try a few phone numbers, the one that Disney has may not be the one you think. Try home, office, cell, old home, etc.

Keep checking for a cancellation. If that doesn't pan out before you go, check once you're down there.

Last October we stayed at BCV. On our last morning, we were supposed to go to Chef Mickey's for breakfast. We decided a couple of days before our last day that we really didn't want the hassle of going all the way to CM when Cape May was at our resort and had a perfectly good breakfast. I had the concierge at the front desk check dining. Nothing available. We had dinner ressies at Cape May that night. I asked at the podium if there was anything available for breakfast that Saturday. She asked if we were guests of the resort. When I replied "yes," she excused herself for a moment. When she came back, the manager was with her. He told me to come that Saturday morning no later than 8:30 (we arrived before 8). He said that they aren't as busy close to opening and that they almost always have some no shows for ADRs. We had no problem getting in that morning. We only waited about 10 minutes to be seated.

All that to say that you may get in even if Disney Dining says no availability. I think they try to help out resort guests.

Great advice, everyone! I definitely feel better about it and will follow through. bamagirl, thanks for sharing your experience at Cape May Cafe, that might really help in the end if all else fails.

Thanks again! :thumbsup2

I checked right after 45 day mark and found several for Chef Mickey's the day and time I wanted. Hopefully they will find it when you call, if not keep trying and Good Luck!

I agree keep checking but the last time we stayed at BCV we decided one morning to try to go to Cape May for breakfast thinking no way. We called from our room at 8:45 and they said come down and they could seat us right away...perfect!

As a back up plan, would you consider another restaurant that offers the same/similar characters? It helps broaden your options a bit, although I know it's not what you wanted.

Keep trying. Hopefully you will get something. I have snagged one after check in before :)

Keep trying. I was recently able to get a Cape May breakfast, Le Cellier and Chef Mickey's for my September trip! I decided not to try Le Cellier and Chef Mickey's. The Cape May breakfast I got was a little late for us so I cancelled it. I'm hoping for a 7:30 spot ;).

**eta**speaking of which I just made a Cape May reservation for the day we check out. It's at 10:20 but we're not going to parks that day so it should be fine. I'm still hoping for a 7:30 slot on our Epcot/DHS day, though.

Do you have your original reservation number? It may still be there, but not showing up online (I've heard of glitches in the system). I'd show up at your original time and show them your reservation number if they ask.

just show up @ 8am as a walk-up, you will get seated. We did this on last trip and were surprised how quickly we were seated. They always have some room

Keep trying and call when you arrive if you have not been able to do anything prior to the trip.

When we originally booked our trip, we could only get a 2:00 pm lunch for Tusker House and a 6:45 pm reservation at Whispering Canyon.

While at AK the day of our reservation, we decided it was too hot to stick around so went to Tusker at 11:30 am to see about getting in earlier. We were seated right away and the restaurant was not even 1/2 full at that point.

The night before our WC reservation, I called Disney Dining to see if we could move it to 5:00 pm and they adjusted it without any issue.

So, I definitely think that they have the ability to figure things out once there. Even the night we had dinner at Le Cellier, they were able to seat a walk up within 10 minutes and it had been sold out online for months.

since you are staying at the resort I would try a walk up first thing in the morning that you want to go.
We went last September and just my opinion not really a great breakfast. The characters are very slow and we have eaten here more than once and more than once a character has "slept in" and not made it. The food is ok but not a huge selection.

I know that most of these characters appear at the character spot in Epcot.

We love Cape May and it is more of a laid back experience. The characters don't rush past your table but stop and spend a lot of time, especially with multiple kids. We've had Donald and Minnie coloring with my daughter, playing with my DH's hat, dancing hugging and kissing with my daughter, Goofy playing around with my DH - just lots of fun experiences. If I could recommend just one character experience, it would be Cape May.

BUT - don't go there expecting to eat quickly and get out. It's best scheduled on a check-out day, or a resort or sleep-in day. Best time to go is around 10-10:30, then you almost get the characters to yourself!

Well, thanks to everyone's suggestions, I got an ADR! Checked online a few days later and POOF!, one had magically appeared.:wizard: We have an 8:55 the morning after we arrive (a Sunday) and I don't have a park on the calendar for that day. We'll head to Via Napoli for lunch (got an ADR!) right next door at Epcot, then meet DH's brother and SiL to hang out on the boardwalk in the afternoon!

Just the day I was looking for - thanks everyone for the great advice! It's our first time in WDW, so I really wanted the kids to have that intro before the fun REALLY starts.... :dance3:
