I may never afford a week at a Deluxe resort

...heck, I'm surprised I managed to afford a week at a moderate!

I intended to book seven nights at Pop Century, or any value as that's what our budget would allow, during the first week of the free dining promotion. This was the only way we were going to make a return trip to WDW this year, just 16 months after our trip in June 2006.

Pop was booked when I made our reservation in mid-May so I was given the option of choosing a moderate resort. I chose Caribbean Beach Resort, hoping and (unsuccessfully) attempting to get a room at Pop or another value resort in the weeks that followed. I have been able to tweak the budget to make a stay at CBR a reality.

Then came time for dining reservations. I thought I had them all arranged weeks ago. I was set on Sci-Fi at Disney Studios and the Princess breakfast at Epcot, other than that I was really unsure where we would eat (table service) in the parks.

I had decided on dinner at Cape May Cafe's Clam Bake and breakfast with Lilo and Stitch at the Polynesian in addition to the Sci-Fi and Princess breakfast. At one time the Cinderella dinner at the Grand Floridian was on the schedule, but then I knocked a day off our itinerary and it had to be canceled because I couldn't fit it in to our itinerary. I had Crystal Palace for breakfast, later switching it to lunch so we could take advantage of the rides open during EMH morning at Magic Kingdom. And at one time I considered Le Cellier, but later changed my mind due to the itinerary I'd laid out. We won't have park hoppers so we are limited on where we can dine in the parks each day.

Of course my plans have changed more than a few times, but I think at two weeks out I finally have all of our ADR's confirmed (changed the last one this afternoon). I'm looking forward to spending time at WDW's Deluxe Resorts, probably the only way we will ever set foot on the property of a deluxe resort. We will have the pleasure of dining in four of the Deluxe Resorts on our trip!

Our visits to the deluxe resorts:
Cape May Cafe Clam Bake at the Beach Club
Boma at Animal Kingdom Lodge
'Ohana at the Polynesian
Whispering Canyon Cafe at Wilderness Lodge

We may never afford to spend even one night at a deluxe resort (though we can dream of a day), but at least we will have the opportunity to see these four and see what is so wonderful about them. I can hardly contain my excitement of our impending week in WDW. Time is going to fly by us during the next two weeks.

Woohoo! A moderate :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

I see you're going soon - but not as soon as me ;) :rotfl2:

Great ADR choices :yay:

BTW - I like your DIS name :3dglasses

Okay, this is a post-trip addition to my "pre-trip" report. Day one is posted on the Trip Reports board.

Sunday August 26th 2007 Less than 24 hours to go

It’s the day before we go to Disney. I’ve still got a lot (most) of the packing to do and a house to clean, and I still have to purchase tickets for Universal Studios. J finished the laundry Saturday and need to put it away before I can begin putting tops and bottoms together for the trip.

DH went to a bowl-a-thon in the afternoon and stuck around in case the kitchen got busy during the free airing of WWE’s Summerslam at the sports bar where we cook part-time. We probably would have annoyed each other if he’d been home all day so I had no qualms about him not being home to help.

As I’m sorting our outfits in to two-gallon plastic storage bags, I realize that DD will have just four pairs of shorts to wear; DH and I each had six, and with the anticipated heat and humidity I was certain I’d be doing laundry at least one day of our trip; but I didn’t want to have to do that chore more then once. I ask her how quickly she can shop and a quick shopping trip is in order. We hastily found a pair of shorts in her size, surprisingly at Walmart, and a few other last minute items and return home to finish packing. It took most of the day to get everything in order. The bags were filled and waiting in the living room when DH got home.
