I am planning to go to WDW on April30-8May of next year. My DBF was going to go with me but he is in between jobs and now doesn't know if he will have the money to go. :headache: I work very late hours (luckily that will be changing soon, back to day shift) and haven't spoke to my friends for nearly 2 years so I don't really want to ask them to go with me. A couple people at work have mentioned they wouldn't mind going, but I am their supervisor so that wouldn't look very good. So with all that said, I am preparing myself to be going solo, this will be my first trip to the World. I have been so excited for this trip and it is kind of a let down that I will be going alone but I have read lots of tips here.
I am looking for anyone else going during that time that might want to share a day or two or dinner a few times if I can't find anyone else to go with me. I am considering taking my 20 year old sister but I am not sure if I want to do that.

i will be there around that time with my 8 year old daughter. I am hoping some of the other solos will be there at the same time, but at this point I am planning on being there.

Maybe Biergarten or Jellyrolls...I am planning on going to both of those places.

I def. want to try Biergarten but I haven't read that much up on Jellyrolls. I keep seeing others dis'ers talk about it though. I wouldn't mind my sister going but she is slow to get ready in the morning and I am quick and I don't know if I could get a commitment from her now. I'm afraid she would change her mind by the time the trip comes around. She wouldn't be able to afford the trip so I would have to pay for her and I could totally see her flaking at the last minute. Maybe we can get a group of dis'ers going at around the same time.

ok well I am tentatively thinking of Biergarten on the 4th for dinner. I am trying to drum up some interest from others for those dates. :)

Jellyrolls is a piano bar on the Boardwalk. I am using childcare one night so I can go over there.

Don't worry at a solo trip. . .I had a blast and there were many DISers there to meet. Trust me when I say there will be DISers there your entire trip if you keep posting your dates and times. . .lol

and even if she goes she can always meet up with you later if she sleeps in. That would give you your mornings to be totally selfish and do what you want to do. :) Solo stuff is always hard at first...movies, Disney, etc. But once you do it you think why haven't I been doing this all along...I can do whatever I want and I don't have compromise with anyone. LOL

HELLO. . .Preaching to the choir here. . .lol.

And why not? I love my single stuff. . .its fairly new for me and I am glad I discovered how to have fun with ME. . .my worst critic and best friend. . .

I just mean you know what you are doing...you don't need single touring advice. :)

Ah. . .I get it. . .lol. Yes, I guess I do. . .I have been doing it since August. . .of last year. . .

had no idea...well I think it sounds like you know what you are doing.

I know I was completely freaked out about going to DisneySea by myself. Go to a Disney park...by myself...people don't do that...Disney is for families...who's gonna take my picture with Mickey?!! (Those were all my pre-conceptions) But I had a blast.

Maybe I will just go by myself. I'm sure there will be lots of other Dis'ers there so I won't be totally alone. I guess I am just thinking of how excited I am about going but I won't get to share that excitement when I get there. I'm sure it will be a great time to learn a lot about myself. :rotfl:

So here are some places that I want to try
Chef Mickeys (maybe for breakfast)
50s Prime Time
California Grill (maybe)
Le Cellier
Kona Cafe(breakfast)
Sci Fi Theatre
Liberty Tree Tavern (another maybe)
1900 Park Faire (with the wicked stepmother meal, not sure which one)
Flametree BBQ
Earl of Sandwich
Wolfgang Puck Express
Pinnochios Village Haus (for figaro fries)
Yak & Yeti
Plaza Restaurant (lunch)
Hollywood Brown Derby
Jellyrolls

Some things I want to try during my visit:
Grand Marnier slush
Schoolbread
Figaro Fries
Dole Whip

50s Prime Time
I love:lovestruc the ambiance of the 50s Prime Time Café, especially when folks at the nearest tables are into it, along with the castmembers. I still have my Clean Plate Award sticker from many years ago, which I proudly wore for the rest of the day.:rotfl:

Awesome! Now I don't feel like I am so alone going on my trip. :goodvibes I have done solo trips myself (down to Texas) several times not knowing anyone etc. I met a few people along the way including my DBF so I don't think this is going to be all that bad afterall. I was thinking that maybe me & DBF can go again later in the year.

The food that I have been seeing from 50's Prime Time looks so good! I hate to say it but I am almost already planning what I want to order at each restaurant as well and I need to stop that :rolleyes1

haha...i am doing that too...I think all the DIS people do that! :)

I just have a couple thoughts about this...

Employees: Does your company really have that much of a problem with a supervisor socializing with employes? I've been to Disney with bosses and employees. The fraternization thing can be tricky, but it can work. The key is that everyone involved needs to be clear on the differences between work and play. And although there are "adult" things to do at Disney, it's not really a party place... unless you're a really wild drinker, you probably don't have to worry about making a fool of yourself with alcohol.

Sister: OK, she's slow in the morning. Someone else mentioned that you can get up, leave without her, and meet up later. It's vacation for both of you, and you both need to be happy. Who says you have to spend every minute with your vacation partner? Just make sure she knows this is going to happen before you go.

Solo in general: I've been saying it to people for years- a solo trip to Disney is a great experience if you're ok being alone much of the time. When I travel for work, I usually try to add a day or two at the end of the trip for vacation. I've done this several times at Disney. No matter were I am, I usually end up a little lonely and depressed (less so at Disney than elsewhere though). So, the main solo question is this: can you spend days on end without any real companionship? Yes, you can talk to all kinds of people in line, on the bus, etc.. But when it comes right down to it, you are probably going back to the hotel room alone (especially with PI closing, Disney is NOT a pick up place).

Others have different opinions, and I'd never refuse a trip to Disney, but I would MUCH rather be there with someone else.
