I Made him go and he loved every minute of it...Trip Report, 6/13-6/20 UPDATED: 9/29

Thanks once again! It's nice to see that somebody has the energy :rockband: to do Track & Soar back to back to back! :thumbsup2

Ooh, I'm having fun reading this because my boyfriend was never at all interested in Disney World and I've recently convinced him that we definitely do have to go sometime. I'm trying to pick up some tips. ;) I'm also having fun because your TR is long and detailed, but it's still keeping me interested!

Great trip report! Can you explain how you used your blackberry at the World? My hubbie is going to get one and this could really come in handy when we go in November. Thanks!

More More!!

Great Trip Report....Dont worry Lizzie will undersatnd when she's 19 :teeth:

enjoying your updates! can't wait for more! :thumbsup2

We looked all over for Lime DISers, too, but only met one and all because of my LGMHPC. Soooo many people were wearing lime green. I was even behind a lady with a lime green Baggallini in the bag check line at Epcot, but I was too chicken to ask her about it. I think no one else should be allowed to wear lime green to WDW! It's like a sacred thing, and if you're wearing it or carrying a LGMHPC, it should mean something! :rotfl:

i don't remember what chapter: the phone call from H-E-L-L that almost ruins the growing love for the mouse and maybe this time, we’ll meet mia.

Before I start I just want to thank everyone for reading my trip report. I know that the updates are few and far between, but due to my job, I have no regular sleeping pattern and as a result I’ve been exhausted a lot lately. Add on to the fact all the new “can’t bring your water bottle through security” measures and work has become a nightmare. Can’t keep enough product in the store. August is already our busiest month, add on the new measures, being short staffed, and you have an excellent mixture for mega-stress. Anyways, I just wanted to let you guys know I appreciate that you’re waiting for me and that as soon as this is over at work I’ll be back more. I wish I could be here more now..but I seem to have a case of the blahs on my days off. Sorry to vent..the main point is…
I miss my DIS!

Okay, now back to our regularly scheduled (ha. Ha.) programming….

I debated on putting this part of the story into the trip report at all. It sure is a downer and it’s nothing I’d actually like to remember. However we are trying to be factual, correct? Thus, it must <enter big sigh> be included.

We are now walking towards world showcase, and Steven’s phone rings. It’s his mother. Steven had asked her to do him a favor and take his car to the shop while we were away so that he could get an oil change and new tires. She agreed. Makes sense right? She’s a teacher and needs something to do during the summer, Steve didn’t want to waste his time while he was home. So we were all on board…

Well, except for the car.

After he started chatting, I decided I was a little hungry so I kinda mimed I was going to this nifty little stand a little ways away to buy a pretzel and soda. I get my stuff and as I turn around I hear…

“WHAT?!?!”

Obviously, this is coming from the mouth of Steve. Otherwise, I don’t know where this story would be going. He is upset. Visibly. He is literally fighting down tears. And the next sentence is something that no one…and I mean NO ONE wants to hear while they’re bleeding money at Disney

“well, how much is it going to cost to fix it?”
<insert me almost dropping my $4 pretzel>
“well, I have to call you back. I don’t know”

APPARENTLY, Steven’s car decided that it didn’t want to have it’s transmission anymore.

<insert dramatic pause for groans from the audience>

Anybody out there wanna guess what they run? For his 2002 Lancer? Let’s just say I wouldn’t have been in Florida had this happened BEFORE we went.
Add to that he still needed new tires, an oil change and something else (I forget what. There was too much “needed to be fixed” then I care to remember) we were looking at roughly 2100 bucks. Yes, you read that right.

I paid 565 for my room at the POP. I could have stayed there for a month with that.

This basically ruined the rest of the trip. Seriously. It’s hard to enjoy yourself (and bleed money) when you know that it’s just going to be a mess when you get home (and you have to bleed more money) I’m uber-depressed because the only “extra” fund of money we have is my college fund.

My Tara is going back to college this semester because she is 5 classes away from graduating and she couldn’t afford to go last semester and her mother almost shot her but yet refused to pay for it fund.

This is why Steve is great: “we’re not using your college fund to pay for this”

Thank GOODNESS.

On a side note, I actually went to pay my tuition and bought my books yesterday! I go back 2 weeks from today! Don’t worry, it’s only going to take me 3 years to graduate from a 2 year school, but hey…I’m GRADUATING this year! (and that was a fast 2000 spent, let me tell you!)

Back to Florida. After the phone call from reality, we venture into world showcase. We actually lapped World showcase twice.

Lap one:
We started on the Canada side, eh. We browsed through the shops and Steve tried to make himself feel better by adding “eh” to the end of EVERYTHING. Eh. It was amusing for the first minute. The last 10 were not so much.
We bought nothing. We did nothing except browse the through the shops.
Oh wait,
We also did that in the United Kingdom.

That's steve scratching his head.

I tried to browse through shops in France but I wasn’t allowed due to the fact that Steve doesn’t like France. He was convinced I wasn’t going to miss anything, “they were all perfume shops”
Morocco. I think this is one of my favorites.

No Aladdin or Jasmine sightings, as I had hoped, but the shops were massively cool. We even got to stop and watch some people perform in one of the shops with finger symbols and a bongo. Too dark for pictures though. I wasn’t trying to blind everyone with my uber-flash camera.

Japan was Steve’s favorite.

We spent a while there. We went though the shop like 3 times. I bought some black chopsticks with pink (my favorite! Besides lime, of course!) flowers. I also bought some red, gold and black chopsticks for my mostly-step-mom who had requested a pair. No, not to eat with. She had a “super awesome outfit she wanted to wear them with”
Steve FINALLY picked out a small scroll picture. It’s only taken 2 and a half days for him to pick out ANYTHING besides his mug. i did nix the buying of these however:

When we go out the Tiko drummers were playing so we stopped to watch them. That was pretty cool, and we would have stayed for the whole thing except dumb-dumb in the khakis said he was “too hot”

I know someone is going to be mad at this but, oh well.

We skipped the American adventure. Nothing was going on. No, seriously. There was nobody around. Apparently there was a threat to national security and they were too busy taking away water bottles. So everyone hopped the boat to Italy. Here we browsed and found our dinner location so we knew where to come back to (we’re eating at Alfredo’s tonight) Steve said he felt like he was in an overly decorated themed mall.

I asked what exactly he thought Disneyworld was.

Germany.

He insisted he was going to buy a beer. Which, apparently that what everyone else was doing too, because it was hot.
We bought no beer. He was too impatient. And now he’s getting whiney. Because his feet hurt, and he’s hot.
So we trapeze into China. I say, well there’s a movie here, lets go watch that! it’s inside and you can probably sit down!
Air, yes. Sit? Not so much. He was at a comfortable temperature now, but his feet still hurt. We lingered less in China.
We stopped for a boat ride on Norway’s Maelstrom.

It was so exciting I can’t even begin to describe it. Ha. Ha.

Stopped in the marketplace in mexico to ride El Rio del Tiempo, That marketplace set up is pretty cool. I think that it’s my favorite shop-scene in the showcase.

Are you feeling like I’m rushing through the last few countries? Yes? Well, that’s because we did, because after china I thought it’d be a good time to go ride the 45 minute Ellen ride. He could rest his little hurting feet. So he power walked and rushed me through everything. I knew he was grumpy and I also had made him promise we would stay for illuminations, so we had time after ellen to go back.

So we went to Ellen. And she helped steve rest in air conditioning and sitting down. She also helped his attitude, which the couple next to us did not.

You know how they say, “no flash photography” like 90 times before they send you on ANY ride at Disney? Well, this dude didn’t think that they were talking to him, and as we were sailing though the part with the dinosaurs, he felt the need to take pictures, which instantly gave me a headache. Steve leaned over and said to him:

“I know you think your special because apparently you can take pictures where the rest of us can’t. you’ll also be very special if you keep it up because my girlfriend will get sick on your lap. Thanks for giving her a headache”

His wife turned so red I could see it in the dark, but the camera disappeared.

After Ellen, I thought it was a good time to do Spaceship earth. I love that ride. The golf ball is going to be my vacation home away from Cinderella’s castle. Once again I had to answer the “is it fast?” “is it loud?” “what’s it about?” “will I like it?”

Apparently, yelling at that dude gave him some energy. He did like the spaceship earth although, “test track is better”
We stopped at the Cola place…what’s that called? I forget. Anyway, I had some soda. Steve had none, because the first one he had made him feel sick.

Sick people take all the fun out of everything.

Then we went over to talk to crush. We waited and we got in as the last two people in the second group. While we waited we watched this lady put on all her diving stuff and they filled a huge water tube thing with her in it. I have no idea what it was about, I couldn’t hear anything except the couple with the crying baby in front of us.

Crush was soooooo funny! even steve was laughing like crazy. One little boy asked crush how many feet he had. Another one raised his hand and then told crush he didn’t have a question he just wanted to say hi.
The best one though was a little girl who asked how much he weighted.
His answer:
“dudette, where’s your momma? Momma, didn’t you teach her that it’s totally not polite to ask people what they weight? Age and weight dudette, you totally don’t ask about age and weight. I’m just gonna lie”

After crush I convinced Steve that we should go and shop some more before our dinner at Alfredo’s at 7. It was 5.

Next up: we’re really going to meet mia. Plus: the large firework debate

Sorry about the car, and to getthe news @ disney what a drag. great update I knew I was checking back for a good reason.

Oh dear! I hope things get a bit nicer on your trip!

I'm glad you didn't have to use your college money to pay for Steve's car! Tut tut tut - boys!!

Tara ~
I am so enjoying your report. I just found it (after lunch) and have read the whole thing.

1. I agree with you about It's a Small World. Probably b/c it is one of the few rides I remember going on with my parents - it was 1976.
2. The CAT! The poop! The dryer! :rotfl: I had a kitten drop into the corner behind a hot water heater once. It was VERY stressful for me. She was only @ 12 weeks old. I could NOT move the water heater. She finally sank her claws into some yarn and I pulled her up. It was a LOOOOOOONG 30 minutes.
3. Sorry about the car.
4. It has taken my hubby SEVEN (count them, SEVEN) years. He still does not officially have his two year degree, but is only 11 classes away from his bachelor's. He's really got to take that math and english at some point.
5.
We stopped for a boat ride on Norway’s Maelstrom.
It was so exciting I can’t even begin to describe it. Ha. Ha.
Did you know that Maelstrom is a fastpass?!?!?!? :teeth:

Can't wait to read about the rest of your adventures!
