I Made Eagle Scout

CONGRATULATIONS BRAD!! Will you be at the Eagle Scout dinner the end of November, or do you have to wait until next year's dinner? My DH will be there (he's the camping guy for Tecumseh District); I'll tell him to look you up.

Way to go! :cool1:

Congratulations!!!!

My brother is an Eagle Scout as well. He still goes to a lot of the functions for scouting. :)

Congrats to the OP. You should be proud of your accomplishments.

As a leader, perhaps you can join your fellow scouts in reversing the discriminatory practices of the BSA. I think the scouts do some great things but lots of kids don't get a chance to participate. For example, just this week the executive board of our synagogue took a vote on whether or not to allow the formation of a troop. It was voted down unanimously because of the discrimination issue. As a result, lots of young boys in our congregation won't have the opportunity to join a local troop.

Sorry to get on my soapbox. I think the boy scouts are a great organization in every way except this one. My DD is a girl scout and loves every minute of it.

Way to go dude, Eagle Scout is the only civilian achievement that can be worn on a military uniform.
It also will go a long way to an appointment to a military college, should you choose that path.

Be proud of yourself!

Congratulations!!!!! Looks good on resumes. I had one son get Eagle...good for you!!:bounce:

What a wonderful way to take something positive and turn it political. Sorry your temple is short-sighted.

What about through their local public school? That's how my son joined.

Way to go! It is a long road to Eagle Scouts.
I have a Webelo I & a Webelo II. They are both disappointed that they can't hike the Goat Trail along the C&O with the local troop that courts from their pack. They have a conflict with their hunter safety class - if they miss it, they can't hunt for another year. My youngest actually switched Packs so he could attend Goshen this summer.

Sorry - I didn't mean they can't join. Certainly, they can find another troop. It just so happens that there isn't one in the immediate area. A local Boy Scout leader has been trying to form a troop and has been unable to find a facility to host the group. In fact, he came to us after his own house of worship turned him down for the same reason.

I am NOT against the Boy Scouts. I think they do great work and have turned out many of our nation's leaders. But in a lot of areas, their stance on homosexuality is working against them. In fact, the gentleman who is trying to form this troop feels that only by attracting people into scouting who oppose the currect policy will the policy be changed.

Sorry if I offended anyone. That certainly wasn't my intent.

Congratulations Brad!

What a great accomplishment for you! This very minute my DS is on a scout camping trip, it is raining and 40 degrees. He will be working on his Forestry and Camping Merit Badges this weekend. DS helped to plan meals and equipment needed for this trip. He crossed from Cubs Scouts into Boy Scouts with his Arrow of Light back in February. After this weekend he will already have 16 nights of camping under his belt. He has 1 more requirement to finish for 2nd Class and is well into working on his 1st Class. His goal is Eagle.
We are at the other end of PA, but DS's troop is going to summer camp at Heritage Scout Reservation, have you ever been there?

Way to go, Brad! That's something to be very proud of....:D

Very cool! I think Eagle Scouts are certifiably good guys. It's a badge of honor. Great work, Brad.

I can sympathize with that. The troop that my son is in was turned out of one church two years after he crossed over. Another church took them in and are now building another facility where the troop will not be welcome. It's not that the boys are destructive or anything. I guess they don't want to share the space with the troop and provide some storage space for them. The troop is fairly large, about 50 boys at the moment. Fortunately the troop owns two huge horse trailers that stores all their camping equipment. So they are on the search for another host. They have about a year to do so.

Brad! I'm so proud of you. What a wonderful accomplishment.
