I made DD cry last night

I think the middle school years are probably the toughest for a girl. I felt that she needed to know that things might be rough all around but no matter what she should always know that she is loved and special. I hope having self confidence in herself will make somethings easier for her. She's all I have and means the world to me. I can't imagine life without her and its important to me that she know that.

I'm glad I've inspired some of you to do the same. Our kids need to know how much we love them even if we say it all the time. There's just something more profound about writing it in a letter.

Thanks, again. You are so right. I have already noticed the change beginning to occur...you know, the one where she is doubting herself and comparing herself to her peers. Anytime, our daughters do this, they can pull out the letter and remind themselves that they are loved.

In my letter, I also told my DD that there was nothing that she could do that would make me stop loving her and that she can always come to me with any questions or problem... I just want her to know that she is not alone--EVER. We are somewhat "strict" and do have high expectations; we also have open communications and plenty of love!!

Thanks again!!

What a WONDERFUL letter you did! Thank you for inspiring me to do the same for my DD who is entering middle school this year. Everything you listed is things I talk to my DD about all the time. However, seeing it on paper is very powerful. :thumbsup2 Think I'll go find a comfy corner and write a letter. Thanks again!

That was so beautifull, thank you for sharing!

What a nice "emotional touchstone" for your daughter and you.
Good job.

OK not good to be crying at work ;)

Seriously, that was one of the most beautiful letters I have ever read.

That was definetly something that all daughters should know. Middle school and high school are so hard, that will be something special for her to keep looking at especially if you have times when you aren't communicating very well. The letter was absolutely wonderful and you are a great mom! :)
