After a lot of hemming and hawing and maybe's and discussion of taking niece out of school, and all kinds of drama with regard to annual visits from various family, I finally said "That's it! We're driving down New Year's Day like I have wanted to do since DS was born, end of story".

DS's birthday is Jan. 2nd. We adopted him and maintain relationships with his biological families, plus he's the youngest grandchild within our families (and an unexpected one as we had been childless for 14 years) and EVERYONE wants to visit around his birthday-but either can't or won't come at the same time! Both last year and the year before we had a series of visitors from mid December to mid January. I was pulling my hair out with stress.

Now, since DS will be turning 3 the first full park day (we will be driving down on the 1st), I think I will simply add a 5th day and go have dinner in a park when we arrive so I can get him in before his birthday.

Niece's birthday is Jan 10th, she will be 11, and so it's a dual birthday trip.

So, the current roster is

Me, Dh and DS
Niece
My Mom and Dad
My best friend (will be her first WDW trip)
DS's birthmom

Anyway, I feel relieved and happy since I can actually start planning, and wanted to share.

Woohoo! Congratulations! Happy Planning!
