hi All,
And i want to live,so i have a sort of great deal or bet with dw!As some of you know we the FDNY have been losing alot of personnal to lung cancer.I smoke i know not a great choice but mine.So dw says to me if you quit smoking until oct we can go to wdw in oct to kinda celebrate. So i have 2 cartons of smokes in the house after those are gone no more.I will just about do anything(ALMOST ANYTHING :teeth: :thumbsup2 )to go to disney,so why not get healthier and get disney as a reward, right?well here goes nothing as i have never tried to quit before, but knowing disney is the reward i'm sure to stay stopped.i hope.i will post updates and let you all know how i am doing with quiting.

:wizard: Good luck! :cheer2: We will be cheering for you! So, have you decided to get a jar to put the money that you would have spent on the smoking habit (it would be a great way of having $$$ for Disney)?

I also think thats a great choice. As an ex-smoker myself, I wish you luck; however, why not chuck those two cartons of smokes now? Why wait until they are used before you quit. Chuck them and quit now.
Good Luck! :thumbsup2

Good luck! It'll be hard but I bet that you can do it. :)

My thoughts and good wishes are with you. We'll be waiting for you in Oct. :firefight ::yes::

Best of luck to you. Are you just going cold turkey?

My DH smokes, and I hate it, I wish he would quit also. Keep us posted on how it goes.

Good luck! Great reward and great idea to post it here. The Dis will keep you on the right track! ;)

:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 My husband quit 2 1/2 years ago, cold turkey, after smoking 16 years. He says he feels so much better than he did when he smoked, he never realized how much it was affecting his health. Now he can't stand to be around smoke and apologizes to me frequently about all of the years he made me live with a smoker. Good luck!!!!!!!

Good for you! :thumbsup2

May I make a suggestion, though? Talk to your doctor about going on Zyban/Wellbutrin (might want to ask for Wellbutrin so insurance will cover it). I quit smoking cold turkey in 1999, but I battled cravings for the longest time. I slipped up quite a few times. In 2001, I went on Wellbutrin for depression and a wonderful side effect was that I lost all my cigarette cravings. I've been off the Wellbutrin for a good eight months and still don't have any interest in smoking.

Good luck!

Good Luck

Wellbutrin is what finally helped my DH quit and stay smoke free

the Dr just told him one more year and it will be as if he never smoked
I guess according to the Dr that after 10 years you reverse all the damage done
so next april (2007) will be 10 years for him

Hope it goes well for you
and the idea of a money jar to save what was your "cigarette" money is a great way to save for WDW

Good Luck, I wish you all the best! Keep us posted... :thumbsup2

My thoughts exactly. Why wait! :cheer2: Get healthier now! It's a great feeling!! :goodvibes

I quit 10 years ago and it was a year later I went to Disney for the first time. I will be going for my 7th time on the "anniversary" date of when I quit.

Good Luck to you! :thumbsup2

I agree about the Zyban. If you start on Zyban, you will pick a quit date and smoke until then. I picked my date and the Zyban helped me not want to smoke.

Way to go, MrFDNY! I know you can do it. TOT and EE and IASW and Cinderella are waiting for you. Don't disappoint them!

I agree...flush those babies down the toilet!

Good Luck, I think you will feel better than you could ever imagine once you quit smoking.
