I made a huge life decision!!I choose disney and life.

If you need to rant or vent or rage or just plain, lose it, feel free to PM me. I quit last Oct and I know it's not easy to do, but very worth it.

Good luck! I know its hard to do, but I'm sure you can do it.

What a great decision! Well, except for the 2 cartons... I agree that you should get a jar to put the $ that you would have spend on cigs.

hi all,
Thanks for all the kind words!I have decidied to sell one of the cartons to a guy at work,so i only have 1 carton left.i need to set my mind up for this for a couple of days so that last carton is the last.As for the zyban/weburtin i had a couple of guys at work on this to help them quit and we saw a strange change in them for the worst.I am a little scared to take it to be honest. One of the guys at the fire house almost killed the fdny tire guy(tire guy-fixes flats on the rigs)after the rig got a flat and he felt the tire guy took to long to get to the fire house. We figured it was more withdrawl, then another guy after being on this for 4 weeks would just start crying out of nowhere and no reason at all,all the time.It got so bad the chief forced him to see the dept shrink and would not let him back to full duty to work. The dept shrink said this and anger and emotional outburts are common side affects.I will finish the last carton and go cold turkey,i guess we will see.

the Dr just told him one more year and it will be as if he never smoked
I guess according to the Dr that after 10 years you reverse all the damage done

This is true for everything but lung cancer.. I personally know of several people who quit smoking as much as 25 to 30 years ago and still developed lung cancer later in life.. Their doctors attributed the disease to their smoking habits "way back when" - it's the one possibility that doesn't reverse itself..

However, it will certainly reduce the chances of emphysema and I believe it can totally eliminate the dangers of heart problems - providing you don't have any other contributing factors.. Just for those reasons alone, it's definitely worth trying.. :)

This is exciting news! :Pinkbounc You're going to be amazed how much better you'll feel after you stop. Just think, you'll be able to tear up the WDW parks in October.

I'm rooting for you  My mother was a smoker since she was in her teens and she passed away at 55yrs. old from Lung Cancer with mets to the Brain. She died within 3 months of being diagnosed. She really died too young. Give yourself the "Gift of Life" and try to stop smoking ! We'll all be here cheering you on !!! :woohoo:

Gosh, with the price of cigarettes in NY you should be able to have alot of extra spending money at Disney - money that would have literally "gone up in smoke"...

Good luck! We are rooting for you!!!!!!!!

And if you decide to use the Wellbutrin, don't forget you can use that AND the patch at the same time.. But DO NOT SMOKE with the patch on! You can give yourself a nicotine overdose with deadly consequences..

We're rooting for you!! :cheer2: :cheer2:

I haven't seen this suggestion yet. What about a ticker counting down the time for you to go to WDW b/c you will win (infediately)! Or, I wonder if there is a count down timer for how many days you have been smoke free (kind of like the weight loss tickers I've seen). Good luck! Be open and honest with friends and family if/when you go through withdrawls. Have them help you get through it. :thumbsup2
