Oh, I'm so bummed....trying to juggle the schedule of dd's in high school & college and found that I've booked our cruise during college finals (May '05) If I wait another week, it will affect high school finals.

Here's my question....what's the weather like in January? Just saw we could do a 4 day on the Magic on Jan 4th. But I'm afraid it won't be warm enough to enjoy CC and the pools?????

The weather in the Bahamas is pretty constant. It would still be nice enough to enjoy everything....probably even better as it wouldn't be quite so unbearably hot.

Jan is hit or miss....last year my friends were staying at Atlantis and the temp was in the 40's and 50's the whole time...they were bummed...you could hit a time where it is nice and warm but if it would ruin your vacation if you couldn't swim I would wait until later in the year.

Hi hmneal

We are booked on that cruise on the Magic on Jan 4/05.

We almost always cruise in January. You don't really know what the weather is going to be like. So far we have had pretty good luck with it. We are not really swimmers though I do enjoy the beach and walking in the water looking at the shells.

A couple of years ago my daughter got a pretty bad sunburn in January at Castaway Cay. This year it was a little chilly but tolerable.

If you book for that time, we will see you on board!!!!! We have a daughter who will be 17 and a friends daughter travelling with us who will be 14.

Hi Robin
We have 4 dd's who would then be 20, 16, 13 & 11. It would be nice to cruise with girls their ages!

Having just done the 4 day in March, we were prepared for mild weather....but when we got off the plane in Orlando and the high was 49 (colder than we left Ohio!), we were bummed. Thank goodness it got better after that day! DH really likes to have great weather so we don't have his vote for Jan. yet. We don't necessarily have to swim but would like it to be warm and come back with some tan :-)

But I really like the idea of getting to cruise on the Magic for a 4 day cruise! Guess we'll keep thinkin' on it!

Hi Holly:

We have only ever sailed on the Wonder (5 times) and look at this as a good chance to see the Magic and still go on a shorter cruise.

It sounds like your daughters could fit in there nicely with "our" girls. We have a son who will 21 by then but he is not travelling with us this time.

Good luck finding the cruise the will fit you the best.

We have done three DCL 7 day cruises in January and love it. Our next cruise is also in January.

The coldest day of the cruise was in Port Canaveral!

Just curious here. Are the Magic and the Wonder changing places?

The Wonder always does the shorter cruises - 3 and 4 nights. The Magic does the 7 night Eastern and Western cruises.

Will this change for 2005 or is it a one-time thing? :scratchin

The Disney Magic is doing the 4 night on Jan 4, 2005 as a one time cruise. The DM is doing a 10 night Christmas cruise from 12/18/04 t- 12/28/04 and then a 7 night from 12/28/04 to 01/04/05 which is a Tuesday. So, instead of leaving the ship sit for 5 days, it is doing a 4 night bahama cruise that week.

I feel for you! We were going to go on the December 11-18th Eastern this year, had it booked and had to cancel because it's during finals week now. Our school recently changed their academic calendar. :( We're going to go during Spring/Winter break next year instead.

Maybe it's just me, but I've cruised three times in December and January and have always had serious trouble with the cold water in the Bahamas and CC. BUT, we've done the Eastern during this time period and the water was beautiful in St. Thomas, St. Maarten, etc.
