"I"m Only Going Because My Teacher Told Me To" Nov. 2016 PTR * update 12/2 TRIP REPORT STARTED! *

What a perfect day! I got happy just reading that! And I think you have sold me on park hoppers. We didn't have them last time, but the idea of just dipping back into Epcot in the evening or a quick ride at DHS before heading to another park is just too tempting. Putting that carrot cake cookie on the list for next time! I've already got so many food items on my list this trip is starting to feel dangerous lol.

I am most impressed by your ability to look good in a photopass ride photo. I don't think I've been able to achieve that once! ;) Keep 'em coming!

Day 4-Undiscovered FutureWorld!
Before I finish up our last Aug. day I actually have an update for our Nov. trip (surprise surprise, this IS a Nov. PTR!) On Sunday I ordered the boys tickets from Parksavers, based on all the good reviews I've read. Now I've got them linked in MDE and they're all ready to go! Steve and I have our AP's. Initially I was going to get 8 day PH's since our plane lands at MCO 9:30 am and then leaves MCO 9:30 pm; however, Parksavers "buy a 4 day hopper get 3 days free" deal was way too good to pass up. I thought about it and, even though I haven't posted our park plans yet :rolleyes1 on Thanksgiving we'll be at DS, then dinner at Trails End, so we may only use 7 days if we don't feel like going into a park after dinner. And if we do, we'll just add a day to their tix.

Also my FP day is coming quickly! I make them on the 20th and I have very little idea what I'm doing. I did have our park days roughed out but after more thought, I think we'll need less time in HS which kills me to say. And the boys definitely want to do mini golf in addition to bowling on Thanksgiving........so besides getting ready for fall pictures at the school which I run and getting our fall fundraiser handed out which I run, I need to get working on our schedule :car:

And now back to August. This is going to be wordy, I apologize, because sadly I didn't take any pictures of or on the tour. I'm so sorry! We can't take pictures "backstage", when we were outside we weren't anywhere you all can't go, but I should have taken a few in the lounges.
Our tour started at 9 and we had to check in by 8:45. On our way to the bus stop we ran in to Roaring Forks for coffee (Steve) soda and a croissant (me) and took it all to the bus stop. We were at Epcot by 8:35 but I'd forgotten where we check in, so a nice CM told us she had no idea, either. We just went over to GS and Aha! Innoventions-west or east, can't remember now but the one with Sum Of All Thrills. We simply gave our name at the tapstiles and were on our way.
We were the first to check in with Krista, whom I thought was our guide but she was just the GS CM who was checking us in. She said there would be five of us on the tour and soon an older couple joined us along with Cameron, who looked to be early 20's. A few minutes before 9 we met our tour guide Christopher who was awesome, and he started telling us a little about himself: he's been a CM for almost 11 years, has worked in entertainment (parades and BaTB show at HS), then management at the Boardwalk, now GS. He then explained the background of what Walt wanted Epcot to be. While this wasn't news to me I'd say 85% of the tour was, which is what made this great. I won't go over step by step what we did in case any of you ever take it (I suggest taking it if you can!) and this would be WAY long. Basically we went to every pavilion in FW and Christopher told us how that pavilion ties in to Walt's vision. Sound boring? Not in the least! Everything from why certain pavilions are shaped the way they are, to tiny details you would never, ever notice on your own, how Figment came to be purple with a yellow and red sweater, lots of other fascinating stuff. We also went "backstage", and also saw 2 company lounges: the one above the Seas which used to be for employees of United Technologies when they sponsored it and is now rented out - has a beautiful view of the aquarium tank and an acrylic piano; and the Hewlit-Packard lounge above Mission: Space that is still used by their employees. We saw areas where all those 3D glasses are washed (thank goodness) and where the ride cars from Figment are worked on; learned interesting things about TT, rode TT and SE......I could go on. I tell you one thing that completely freaked me out is how close to FW some of the WS pavilions are! While we were backstage discussing why the Land is the color it is, walking to the left we were behind the Canada pavilion!!! Holy crap!! TT is right by the Norway pavilion! Crazy. We also toured....hmmm, forget what he called the building but it's where CM lockers are, where they trade pins, there's a Subway and other food for them to eat on break, and near it is "costuming" which we also toured. Saw a very small Capt. Hook outfit that was used in promotional videos for MNSSHP and saw Mickey's outfit for Christmas being sewn :santa: along with a huge fiberglass bottle of mustard from way back when Kitchen Caberet was there. Also saw a couple "friends of" the princesses getting their hair/makeup done princess: We ended by seeing where they store the Illuminations globe and found out something interesting - there are 2 CM's that ride in the bottom of that, "driving" it - anyway we walked about 200 feet and were in the China pavilion where we said good-bye. That's when we found out Cameron was also a guest services CM! He wanted to begin doing tours and in order to take the test, you have to have been a "guest" on the tours you want to give. Seriously could go on forever about this tour. At the end Christopher asked us what we were most surprised about and what we enjoyed the most, and like a true Disney geek I answered: I was fascinated to learn the connection between each and every FW pavilion to Walt's original plan/vision for Epcot. Truly an enjoyable tour.

And because I can't stop talking here are just a couple random FYI's we found out. Don't worry, these are 3 out of about 200 we learned so you won't be spoiled if you do the tour!
1. When SE originally opened, the scene about landing on the moon had the moon being full. A guest who rode it remembered watching that first moon landing and noted the moon was NOT full. So, they painted out part of the moon so it would be realistic to the actual moon the night of the first landing.
2. The only pavilion in FW that isn't original is the Mission: Space building. It had to be demolished and rebuilt when the ride went in because the footings(?) had to be cemented into the ground.
3. The first pavilion built was the Imagination pavilion.
I know you can probably find out those last 2 online, but I really don't want to give anything exciting away!!

I was going to do our whole last day in one post but this is dangerously long. I have one picture, it's both our name tags and the pins they give you after the tour:

I promise only one more post about our Aug. trip and it'll be back to normal. Thank you all for continuing to follow along!

It wasn't my favorite experience buttttttt it was one of the longest uninterrupted naps I took during the heat :rotfl2:

I can't stand the unknown! I am soooo hoping for ROL and that they extend AK hours beyond 6pm. I would love if they wouldn't wait until last minute so I wouldn't have to rearrange my whole AK schedule last minute.

Yay for being a travel agent!!! If we ever get this 8-10 person trip finalized I may recruits your services to help with dining, fast passes and general expertise! You will have to send me a link to your page if you have one already!

Yay!!! Glad you got what you wanted and hopefully a smoother trip!

Ok so once I realized I was super behind I decided not to quote every thing I wanted to. I think we would be here until next week. :surfweb:
But anyways I am all caught up....
Super Glad y'all got a great room at Wilderness!!
Was Trails End breakfast worth the haul from WL?
The more I hear about this grey goose slush the higher it's getting on my Epcot list.
Also please tell me as hot as it was in August that there is a huge difference in weather during November!
That is all for now!! Well wait a min one more...Do you have you Fast passes planned out for November yet? I'm a little nervous about making them since I have only done it once and then they changed it a bit from last year. Not to mention I work the night before and won't be off work yet when I can start making them.
Hey Whitney! Welcome back
Trails End was TOTALLY worth going over from WL. I wrote all about our breakfast in my dining report; there's a link below in my signature but it's not working  Gotta fix that. We loved the brunch there and I've booked it again for Nov! It was like not even a 10 minute ride over to Fort Wilderness from WL and the boat dock is right by TE. Plus the boat to FW starts running at 6:45 so no matter how early your reservation is (if it's for breakfast) the boat will be running unless it's bad weather.

Oh, you best be getting at least one Grey Goose slush lol!

No worries about that nasty heat in November. Even though early Nov. last year people reported high temps and humidity, when we went the highest it got was mid-80's and some days were mid-70's to low 80's. Plus there's no humidity. At night it was anywhere from low 70's to high 50's. No guarantees because it can be all over the place, but definitely won't be like August!!

Ugh, FP's :headache: I'm so behind this trip. I just started working on them today and I also am switching around some park days. Don't be nervous, this will be our 7th trip with them? 8th? We always get what we want and I've only booked at the very first minute we could once. When I made them for our Aug. trip I was able to see the little changes they've made since January and it's really not any more complicated. LMK how you make out Friday!

LOL, I can't even fit in every place I want to eat in November and I never seem to get every snack I want on a trip!
We tried not getting PH's on one trip, in Aug. 2014. My thinking was since it'd be our first summer trip and I was planning a break mid-day every day, we'd just return to the same park at night we'd been in that morning. Well, by day 2 we were adding hoppers. It's very hard for us to not jump to Epcot and we like to be able to change our plans on the fly; at least as much as you still can these days

I love learning about Disney history. Maybe we'll have to do this tour sometime. I want to do the Marceline tour in May.

I will definitely have to find the dining report. I've pretty much been on mobile only since the move so I don't see any links at all. We can't get internet at the new place. It's only 5 mins down the road which is frustrating. But I am sure I will have some down time at work to check it out! :goodvibes

OK guys, I started my dining report! Don't have the link in my signature yet because I always forget how to do that so I need Steve to help me, but it's called, "But I Don't Like Peas and Mushrooms!" Do not feel like you have to take a look - I appreciate all of you following along with me here and putting up with my extra trip reporting, and it's such a busy time of year with school being back so I know we're all busy. I will say though, we had some really good food.........

Where are the dining reports? Maybe I'm dense, but I can't find them! haha

It really sounds like a great tour. I'm so fascinated with Disney history.
You really do need to square out your days so we can plan a dismeet because isn't a dismeet more important than fast passes!:rotfl:

I love learning about Disney history. Maybe we'll have to do this tour sometime. I want to do the Marceline tour in May.
I know you're in DISNEY now (yay!!) but the Marceline tour is on my to-do list :thumbsup2

Where are the dining reports? Maybe I'm dense, but I can't find them! haha
OK I know you found me over there! Haven't checked this report for awhile. Stupid link in my signature below doesn't work and I keep forgetting to fix it :sad2:

It really sounds like a great tour. I'm so fascinated with Disney history.
You really do need to square out your days so we can plan a dismeet because isn't a dismeet more important than fast passes!:rotfl:
I love Disney history, too, and @Raeven mentioned in her PTR a set of books she's reading called "The Vault of Walt" - all about his and Disney's history. I need to look into them!
Park days are becoming finalized! Will be posting asap and yes, Dismeets are most definitely at least AS important as FP's :goodvibes

@Whit64130 Whitney it won't let me quote your last post, but if you do feel like checking out my dining report it' called, "But I don't like peas and mushrooms" :-). Since the stupid link in my signature isn't working.......I do hope you're able to get internet at the new place soon!
Also for the link to my TA page? Since we're friends on FB, go to my page and over on the left side under "works at" there's a link to it :flower1:

Hi there stranger! Can't believe you are almost done already and I haven't even finished my last report. It's been work, work, work, and more work since we got back and today is my first with some time on my hands in weeks! We were supposed to be in Philly this weekend for Jason to run a half marathon but he's got a cold and decided he couldn't do it. Gotta tell ya I was a bit happy when he made that decision cause I needed some DIS time. Enough rambling on me, now to your trip!!!!!!!!!!!

Because this was our view looking straight out!!!!
Love this view. While the construction isn't great to look at, I'll take it any day to have a "standard" view with a look at that beautiful crane um I mean castle :-)

And then it was back to the resort! We'd been up so early that morning and I was looking forward to watching Wishes from our balcony at 10. Again we took the boat back and it was SO pretty at night. So right at 10:00 we walked outside our room and watched this:
Perfection! Looks like you all were closer to bay lake than we were in April. We were on the back side of the building. Your view looks much closer.

**Hi all, one quick real-life update before I get back to the good stuff. I am happy and excited to announce that I have recently become a travel agent!! Or to be more specific, a "travel planner specializing in Disney Destinations" :goodvibes I've been wanting to do this for awhile and finally got off my butt and did something about it last month. I don't have any clients yet but I'm looking forward to helping lots of people plan their way to magical Disney vacations!!**
So proud of you! Hope it's going well so far. Be sure to let me know when you see 2017 military rates come out. Someone may just have a February trip on her mind o_O

We'd been over to the Fort once for HDDR but never eaten at TE and I love breakfast so I was excited! Even more exciting was that Kari @kastoney had a 10a.m. ADR so there was a possibility we'd run into each other. We took the boat over from WL (see? Convenience!) ate our breakfast and sadly missed Kari since her kind like to run fashionably late :D Now we were finally headed to a park!!
In my defense our reservation was actually at 1015. Of course that likely didn't mean we should have just been getting on the boat from MK at that time. Time is definitely not our thing. Too bad we missed you, really would have liked to meet you all :P

Did I mention it was hot?
It was hot???? I don't think I noticed.

Oh, and here's a lesson I learned as we left that I should have learned a LONG time ago: don't blindly follow your husband. He checked the bus board and told me WL was at loading zone #1 so I followed him there. We struck up a conversation with a lovely older woman and her husband and eventually she asked us what we thought of Coronado Springs......we told her we'd stayed there back in 2014, liked it and were staying again in Nov. She asked what section we were in now - huh? Steve just looked confused, I looked up and to the right and realized he'd led us to loading zone #3 :sad2: Uh-huh, luckily we hadn't missed an actual WILDERNESS LODGE bus, and I did the navigating for the rest of the trip.
Not sure I'm remembering correctly, but from our April trip I thought WL and FW was actually the first stop at Epcot. Maybe they moved it and didn't change the sign yet? Or maybe Steve just thinks 1's and 3's look alike and my memory is crap.:P

Good news guys! We got an email yesterday from the person we're renting points from, and she got us Beach Club for our whole stay!! Now we don't have to switch to Coronado for the last 3 nights :dancer: Not that we minded remember, but after our stay at WL we were a little sadder that we weren't going to be so close to a park/parks for our entire stay. I'm really surprised we were able to get those nights because I know a few others who have wait-lists and they haven't come through yet.
Awesome news. While i'm sad to hear there will be no all you can drink sangria in your future being right in the middle of the action for the while trip sounds amazing!!!!!!

Although not an ADR I had planned to eat something in Harambe Market since I wanted to do that last Nov. but was outvoted. Steve wasn't thrilled but agreed nevertheless and in the end we were both happy. It wasn't crowded over there or in the park in general, so we got our food and sat at a table right by the little stands. I had the LONGEST corn dog which was actually a sausage, and Steve had Tikki Masala chicken. I found more sangria there, too :drinking1
:drinking1 That's my girl! Can't wait to hear what you thought of Harambe

Earlier at Trails End, Kari @kastoney and I had just missed each other. She and her family also had a FP for the 1st Jungle Book show and we were hoping to meet up and possibly sit together - which we did!

My 2nd Dismeet ever! Very cool and strange at the same time meeting someone you "know" from here :) Steve and I enjoyed meeting her, her cute as a button daughter Casey and her husband Jason and watching the spectacular Rivers of Light with them.
Who are those hot chicks???

It was great to meet you both and watch the amazing Jungle Book Show together. Though I'm sorry we couldn't talk too much since I was so engrossed in the show :P

It was a good 2nd day! We had an almost empty bus back to WL, I got my 2nd Magic Bar from Roaring Forks to eat in the room and we called it a night. We had plans to make RD at HS in the morning!
A magic bar and me, sounds like a great day to me!

If you haven't had the pleasure that's a carrot cake cookie and it-is-di-vine. And perfect for breakfast IMO. After eating we took the bus to MK and I took this picture on the way out. It looks like a storm is rolling in but we actually had no rain, at least over at MK
Why oh why did I not think to eat this for breakfast. Had a danish at Starring Rolls one morning and I so would have killed for a carrot cake cookie. I mean its healthy with all the carrots right?

Back to HM: I was very disappointed because the newer effect on HM where the hitchhiking ghosts hold up a sign saying your town and maybe your name?? didn't seem to be working either time we rode during this trip.
We didn't have it work for us either. It did in April, but not the 3 times we rode it this trip.

We took the boat back to WL again - love that so much!! walked around the resort a little bit and then showered and changed for dinner at Il Mulino.
Great minds think alike. We ended up there one night. Can't wait to see what you had.

Also my FP day is coming quickly! I make them on the 20th and I have very little idea what I'm doing.
That is quick. November seems like a lifetime away but clearly it is now.

I was going to do our whole last day in one post but this is dangerously long. I have one picture, it's both our name tags and the pins they give you after the tour:
This sounds like an awesome tour. I'd always thought Epcot had veered from Walt's original intent so I'd love to hear the backstory and connections Will have to do it one of these days.

All caught up. I know I've read all your updates but I don't know if I commented on all of them. I apologize if I didn't.

Love the tour! I've done Keys to the Kingdom and truly enjoyed it, so I'm sure I would enjoy this one. But since we don't go enough anymore, I'm not sure I would want to give up my park time for a tour. I really have to find a way to get down to Disney more often!

I love the tidbits you did share! Oh and congrats on tix for the boys. Love me some Parksavers! I've bought from them twice!

Good luck with making plans and FP selections. This is why I have a subscription to touring plans. It just helps me get my plans on "paper" so to speak, and helps me with FP timing. I'll be interested to hear what you decided to do.

Hi there stranger
I was wondering when the he-- you were going to show up!

So proud of you! Hope it's going well so far. Be sure to let me know when you see 2017 military rates come out
You know I'm on top of it ::yes::

In my defense our reservation was actually at 1015. Of course that likely didn't mean we should have just been getting on the boat from MK at that time. Time is definitely not our thing. Too bad we missed you, really would have liked to meet you all :P
It's really a damn shame......
OK sorry! I swore it was 10:00 so I guess you weren't as fashionably late as I though you were 8-)

It was hot???? I don't think I noticed.
Alcohol dulls the senses.........

Not sure I'm remembering correctly, but from our April trip I thought WL and FW was actually the first stop at Epcot. Maybe they moved it and didn't change the sign yet? Or maybe Steve just thinks 1's and 3's look alike and my memory is crap.:P
Nope you're remembering correctly. WL WAS/IS the first stop, which Steve correctly told me. He then incorrectly led us to stop #3 and I just blindly followed him and only realized it after the nice lady started asking us about CSR and I finally looked ahead and realized there was another covered stop ahead of us that was clearly stops 1 & 2. So your memory is fine, Steve most likely can still tell the difference between 1's and 3's but just stops wherever and whenever he pleases regardless of where we're supposed to be!

Awesome news. While i'm sad to hear there will be no all you can drink sangria in your future being right in the middle of the action for the while trip sounds amazing!!!!!!
I guess I'll just have to keep paying for my sangria :drinking1 I really liked the idea of trying BC at CSR and we don't mind split-stays in general, but since it' a busier week I think staying put will work to our advantage. Plus easier access to Epcot at night and if the kids don't feel like coming in while Steve and I get a drink (or 3)? They stay in the room and we're not THAT far away :thumbsup2
Who are those hot chicks???
Two of the most awesomest women I know!

Why oh why did I not think to eat this for breakfast
Just another reason we should meet up in Disney again, so we can make sure we do the right things. Like pronounce restaurant names correctly............

Great minds think alike. We ended up there one night. Can't wait to see what you had.
You may be surprised! Or possibly grossed out. I'm curious if you felt the same way about Il Mulino that we did :)

This sounds like an awesome tour. I'd always thought Epcot had veered from Walt's original intent so I'd love to hear the backstory and connections Will have to do it one of these days.
It's funny because I did, too, which is one thing that made this tour so great and so interesting. What's there really hasn't veered from what he saw for Epcot. Guardians of the Galaxy coming in? I haven't seen the movie so maybe in a roundabout way you can tie it to his vision, but my guess is it's not nearly as close to what he wanted as what's there now.
That tour sounds great! I love learning all the interesting little tidbits about the parks!
Loved it! I think I'll be recommending this one over KTTK, as much as that surprises me to say. Just today we started discussing which tour we'll do on our next adult only trip. You'll see, once you start doing tours it's hard to stop!

I don't think I knew you did KTTK! I know, it eats into park time especially when you're on a shorter trip. If we didn't go so often I wouldn't be as excited to do the tours so we're lucky, and I can't wait until the boys are old enough to do the majority of them. You do need to find a way to get down more often lol! Maybe a Disboard-friends trip?? :D:D
I had only looked at Parksavers quickly until about 2 weeks ago. I can't believe how much cheaper than UT they are!
I finally have my park days set (for now) and a FP plan, and will hopefully be posting tomorrow since I make FP's Tuesday!

Any dates in mind for your next adults trip? I hear it's quite nice there in January :scratchin
LOL! Funny because Steve was looking at flights for January, over MLK weekend again which is when we went last Jan. :) However I'd really like to go during Flower and Garden again and I don't know that we'd do both, so we may do early March instead which could then be an anniversary trip (our anniversary is March 8th). But Jan. is definitely a possibility! I'd love to meet you and Luke!

What? An Actual Nov. Trip Update??!!

Yes! I'm taking a break from posting the end of our last Aug. day, which I will definitely post soon because I have a cool picture I want to post, to do a quick Nov. update as tomorrow is my FP day. Being that it is, I've pretty much come up with a plan for our park days, which as you all know is subject to change. I also changed around/added some ADR's which I'm sure none of you remember since I listed my originals so long ago lol. When they first changed the FP time from midnight to 7am I didn't think I'd like it since I'm a night owl, but I'm up now because the boys are in school and 7:00 falls in between Ricky leaving and when I have to wake Chris up so it's going to work out better than midnight for me :thumbsup2

Here's my park days, ADR's, and what I want for FP's as of now:

11/19:
arrive MCO approx. 9:15

MK
FP: BTMRR, Splash, Jingle Cruise
ADR: dinner, Cape May Cafe

11/20:

FP: TOT, RnRC, something else we probably won't use or possibly VotLM which I'll make us use! Hoping for short(er) TSMM line
ADR's: lunch MM, dinner Narcoossee's with 6 hours in between

11/21:
EPCOT
FP: LWTL, TT, something else we probably won't use. RD Soarin'
ADR's: PPO Garden Grill breakfast, Il Mulino dinner

11/22:

ADR: BOG dinner (thanks again, @Whit64130!)

11/23:
MK am, AK pm - can anyone say ROL??
FP: Space, BTMRR, Splash
ADR: Yak & Yeti

11/24, Thanksgiving
no planned parks so no FP
ADR: Trail's End
*may go into Epcot or HS at night*

11/25:

ADR: Marrakesh dinner

11/26:
MK
FP: HM, BTMRR, Pirates
ADR's: Trail's End weekend brunch, LTT later lunch
catch DME approx. 6pm

I know I have BTMRR 3x, basically every day I'm making FP's in MK. I'd do this no matter what but from what I've been reading, since it's only supposed to come back up from refurb on the 19th, people are reporting not being able to book FP's for it until a few days after that. So I don't know that I'll get one tomorrow for the 19th and possibly not for the 23rd, either. If not I'll substitute whatever I feel like substituting come 7am tomorrow!
Once I have them booked and the trip is a bit closer I'll do a more detailed day by day of what I hope to do. I have to fit in the things I didn't get to do in August, like Astro Orbiter with Steve, Mickey's Royal Friendship Fare stage show, and seeing Nick and Judy in the Move It, Shake it parade which Chris also wants to see. I also might add another TS lunch in there somewhere......just not sure where yet but I feel like I want another one!

Had to swing by quickly to see your plans. BTMRR has no FP availability yet. I tried to book them, but the site says they aren't available. We will be at MK on the 19th and in the evening on the 22nd. Maybe we can work something out.
